   What do you consider reason enough to down vote a hub?
   
   I have not down voted any hubs yet, and I was curious on what grounds someone would do it.

   If a Hub has just text and no other capsule (no photos, no maps, no tables, no links, no quizzes or polls) and it is just a plain unformatted, reader unfriendly text, that is definitely a reason to vote a Hub down.

   Flimsy, short content, numerous spelling and grammar mistakes and a clear indication that a hub was written purely to advertise something are the main reasons I would vote down a hub. Great question! p.s. I've noticed that some people vote a hub down on here purely out of revenge for one reason or another. I don't think it's fair, but it happens.

   I would only go to the very drastic step of actually voting down a hub if it was pornographic, and therefore inappropriate for all audiences. That is the only reason. I would not take it upon myself to 'penalize' someone else's work based on my perception of 'quality' or anything like that

   Offensive, inappropriate language and content, and a ton of grammatical errors will cause me to vote down.

   I almost never vote down a Hub unless it is so bad that I actually flag it for review by Hub Pages staff. Then it is usually machine translated hubs, gibberish hubs and the like. If it looks like someone actually spent some time writing it I will very rarely vote one down.
   
   I see a lot of political Hubs that I consider close to hate speech, or just stupid and ill-informed. I do NOT vote those down. I also write political Hubs and I would hate for people to get into that habit, so I don't want to start it. For that reason I do not participate in HubPages political forums.
