Yes, since the rise of SEOs and other ways to promote hubs-outside readers are coming in and unfortunately that includes bots and spammers. Not only that but there is the occasional off topic response that has no business near your hub. I'm not about negativity but sometimes you have to exercise good judgment for the benefit of your hub.
I haven't had to deal with that till now but may be I too would have to do this if it happens with me what you tell...
Never, the reason your on here is to get feed back on what you write good or bad
So if someone was to make lewd comments on your Hub, you would go ahead and allow them to be posted there? If someone would put a racist comment, or something else equally unnecessary on your wall, it would be allowed?
@TrevorBasile: I hope you practice too what you preach. I voted 'up' for your answer.
@MamaBambie: You did the right thing then. But if TrevorBasile says so, may be he hasn't had any such experience yet.
@ashish04joshi: Very true.
@TrevorBasile: I apologize for my comment.
@ashish04joshi: I do practice what I preach.
@MamaBambie: No need to apologize its your thought and that is why we are hear to let our voices be heard about things that matter to us.
No, I have not had to deny a comment, not yet! I have either been very lucky, or HP filters are working overtime, or I'm not so well known and therefore don't attract spammers, etc. , this last is a mixed blessing!
Well, I too haven't had to deny any comment till now but actually there's one person who's making me think to do so.
He posts one-worders(if I can call them so) on my hubs, not even one-liners!!!
I did once. I have a hub on savings money, and someone commented about how the economy is based on spending and it was waste of time to save money etc. they went on and on. It served no purpose and if this person wants to have that opinion good -let him/her write a hub about it.
very right of you to do so!
Everyone is welcome to post his/her opinion but it should be in the form of another hub. That is even better...
Yes, I got a very lewd comment from a man when I asked the question, "How Many Licks Does It Take To Get To The Center Of A Tootsie Pop?"
Oh..that's so sick of him!! You did the right thing...
Yes.
Once the comment was longer than the Hub.
Once when the comment was completely off the subject
Once when the commenter started to use insulting language to disagree.
I have also stopped discussions on some hubs, when the comments become repetitious.
Also, I some put a paragraph at the end asking for comments, but that we are not going to discuss events that happened 100 years ago.
The first one was funny...
Some people are MegaMinds, aren't they?
Yes. I sometimes get inappropriate and unrelated comments. I sometimes get women-hating and sexist comments,too.
I have had to deny many comments on some of my hubs, but only because they were negative and insulting.
Yes, I had to deny once or twice. It was totally irrevalent and one was a spammer.

Not sure if this is a problem or me not reading it right.On our "hubs you have commented on" page, the comments are split into "4 hrs" "24 hrs" and "ever".I've wanted to use it recently to check whether anyone responded to my comment. Now, I know I made...

I've never been able to understand why the comments capsule is optional. After all, we have the ability to moderate and deny comments if we don't like them. Seems to me the only people who wouldn't want comments are the spammers, so why do we make it easy for them?

How can I stop spammers from leaving comments on my hubs?I've started getting spam as comments to my hubs. They contain links to sales sites. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, how are you handling it? Don't users have to sign in to comment?

This might be my last forum post because I am tired. I can't be wasting my time beating a dead horse.HP is a business and they need to start treating their business more seriously. They need a task force to sit and brain storm about how to keep spammers out in the first place.I know that I have...

Could there be a block I.P. Address added to our hubs in the comment section? I know we can report this, but it would be quicker if we could just block them when they appear on our hubs. Same would go for those who comment and we would rather block anyways. I can't stand wasting my time receiving...

This morning I was surprised to find I had 11 new hub comments! Considering I'm lucky to get 1 every 3-4 months I wondered if I was fortunate enough to have a HOTD. To my disappointment, every comment was spam. (No HOTD...lol) Is there anything I need to do other than mark the comment as spam? How...
