Should HubPages do more to check for copyright violations in hubs?
Hub Hopping isn't the answer. Flagging violations may help increase a Hubber's score, which may, in turn, increase their visibility on HP, but this carrot will only go so far. Experienced hubbers and newbies alike use copyrighted photos or don't properly cite photos or text. Poor sourcing and copyright violations signal low-quality content. It shouldn't be entirely up to the community to enforce HP policies.
It's the responsibility of a copyright owner to monitor their work and copyrights. That's how internet liabilities and law are currently established and unless those change, all HubPages will be responsible for is their own original content and responding to complaints filed with them.
