How does Hubpages decide the score of my hub before I've even published it?

    How does Hubpages decide the score of my hub before I've even published it?

    If the answer to this is somewhere in Hubpage tutorials, my apologies for asking! I'm just confused smile

    A Hub usually begins its life around 50 provided that it's not substandard or anything. There may be Hubs that begin below that, like 45, that's because they are written in saturated niches, meaning a lot of similar Hubs exist.
    After published, the score starts climbing depending on factors like comments, votes, traffic, etc, but if you leave a Hub unpublished for a few days, the score can climb up to as high as 80 and then start declining again. It really doesn't matter if you do this or publish right away, though.

    I think there are several influences on the score, like the ones Haunty mentioned and also how the hub is laid out (does it include one big text box or a nice blend of variety) as well as spell-check and grammar triggers.

    That's just a guess on my part, though.

    Part of it is based on how much original content is there, original photos, the amount of words, and how Google will except the hub. I agree that keeping it unpublished for several days helps crawlers rate it higher even before it gets published. Minimum of 500 words, an original photo, 5-8 quality tags, a good summary and several subtopics will get better results.

      I agree with ShootersCenter. The originality is the most important, because when time passes if the hub doesn't have those caracteristics the score comes down.

      Thanks. What do you mean by "crawlers"? My hubs usually start out between 50 and 60, and you're right, the one time I left one unpublished for about 24 hours, the score did go up closer to 70. Interesting.

      Crawlers or spiders is what makes you found on the web or internet.
