What is the best way to save a copy of each of my hubs to my computer? How do YOU save a backup?
Is saving a page as a 'web archive' a reasonable way to save a copy of each of my hubs? If something were to happen to HubPages would that web archive be accessible to me (including hyperlinks?) to then copy and paste? I have been copying and pasting images and all into a new Text Editor file and saving as a Rich Text File with Attachments. Works fine, just wondering if there's a better (faster) way.
I guess part of my question is really "what the heck is a web archive file, exactly...?"
How do you save copies of your Hubs?
I save copies of my Hubs in Word format, and I also save a copy of the actual website files, so that I can still have my images if something ever happens to HubPages. If you use Google Chrome, just right click anywhere on the page and choose "save as."
Thx Georgie! Do you save as a web archive? I was wondering if the links will be preserved if anything happens to HubPages? I'm not really sure how the dynamics of that type of file work...should have tested while HP was down for hours yesterday AM!!
Links will be saved, but won't go anywhere if they're links to HubPages. When I save them, it saves everything on the page.
I write and edit the hub in WORD on my computer and then cut and paste to the text boxes in a new hub.
Thx, Duffsmom! I don't always write in my text editor, and I almost always do most of my editing in HP. As my hubs evolve over time the original becomes a far cry from the 'living' published version so it's hard to keep up w/ links & everything!
This tutorial shows how to download all of your hubs with a Firefox addon called Scrapbook. It saves text, pictures, formatting, everything! I did this myself and it was so quick; I was amazed. I used it to download all of my articles on another writing site too, also very quick. Try this before you copy and paste everything into multiple Word docs.

THIS is what I was looking for! I literally spent hours over the last 2 days (since HP was off and on) saving all my hubs one at a time by copying and pasting into Text Edit and saving as a RTF w/attachments (to preserve the links). This is awesome!
Is there something similar a Safari user can do?
I'm not sure, but you can download the FireFox browser for Macs. If you don't like FF for browsing, just uninstall it after you have used Scrapbook to download all of your hubs.
I'm not positive if this is the same, since I haven't tried either but there is a free one called iClip Lite from Apple that seems like it's similar:

I've got them all copied on both a flash drive and on a disc..

Do you guys back up your hubs?Hey guys, do you guys back up your hubs locally? I'm kinda wondering if I should. Granted, I only have made a few, but I guess it's never too soon? Also, if you do back up your hubs, how do you do it?

So .... I was just flagged for a hub I wrote last night. It was flagged as a duplicate.I didn't even cite anything in this hub. I quoted a bunch of stuff in my Anaconda piece and none of it was flagged as duplicate, so someone must have copied and pasted my new hub. Everything on...

While I have not published many hubs, the interface HubPages provides is easy to use, so I expect to be publishing many more hubs in the future. I find that in many cases I prepare hubs on HubPages itself, rather than do it in another application. As such, I find that I do not have any backups...
