Do you care if your Hubs focused at the HPs community go into an idle (Zzz) status?
A lot of Hubs are focused on the HubPages community or of interest to only the HubPages community. Several are more "social network" focused than informational, educational, or even artistic. Are these Hubs really of interest to those outside our community? When we write them, do we really expect a lot of views by outsiders generated by search engines?
Does keeping these hubs idle help the status of our other hubs in search engines (and the status of the community as a whole)?
I fully understand what you are asking, banks. Unfortunately, as many times as I have seen this question, and others, I have read any number of various responses. Unless HP explains this, I don't think we can know for sure. Having said this, I'm sure we hubbers have idle hubs that are NOT hub-community-related. Would the answers be the same for these hubs?
Often, while surfing or scanning through our threads, numerous questions abound, from hubbers wanting to know what we should and should not do, why are scores, traffic and revenue dropping..?...and certainly a lot of other questions. Other than guesses and/or assumptions from one another, I don't see anyone from HP staff rushing to offer explicit info...do you? Apparently, the answers are in much of the learning center or other info written by staff.....and they expect that we should all read these ...OR.....we are not meant to know the answers to any of these questions.....
Quite a few hubs are tributes to other Hubbers, tips for Hubbers etc. I can't believe anyone outside HPs would search for these articles. Maybe if they were Zzzs it would be better individually and for the community.
One of my favorite hubs is about tipping the maids when traveling. Oh, my! What a dead subject and yes, it sleeps and snores perhaps very loudly but I do care. I wrote it because I believe we should be tipping.
When I wrote that hub I knew I was in for a battle to be read. People don't want to spend money - worst yet, they don't want to be put to shame for not doing the right thing. Yet, I wrote it and just last week I was promoting it. We either have to pay better or we must consistently tip the maid.
Idle hubs I feel hurts all of us and brings down the quality of traffic to HP.
I think the visual reminder of the Zzz is really helpful and I commend HP staff for helping us out.
Like you, I write Hubs that are not highly searched, but have some utility to many outside of HPs. Like your Hub on tipping, I would work to keep those active. (Same true for seasonal Hubs). My tips for Hubbers Hub has little use outside HPs.

I’ve been reading many questions on the forums about how to get more traffic to your hubs. I’m a great believer in testing something, analysing the results, refining and sharing, and I approached the subject of how to get hub views in a practical methodical way. I’ll share my techniques below and...

I know that you can choose to display your idle hubs on your profile page, but I don't, because I don't want Google to see them at all and get confused by all those "do not follow." What this means is that my idle hubs are not available for anyone to see, and I have to actively...

Ever since I started working with HubPages, I've received requests for a feature that makes it easy for:1. Signed-in Hubbers to suggest (private) edits to fellow Hubbers' Hubs2. Hubbers (who have opted in to the feature) to receive, review, and approve/deny suggested edits to one's own Hubs. This...

My new experiment:http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/8289is looking better every day, and in fact I am trying to figure out ways to help as many Huber’s as possible in this path so I decided I'm going to develop my site in a way that gives authors some link juice (and this site will get massive...

Should you update a Hub when you see its traffic waning, even before it's gone Idle? Will this keep it from going Idle and increase traffic to it?

So I've deleted all of the idled hubs so far and am wondering when I will have none left. I'm not going to edit anymore until I see some sort of improvement in traffic. Too much trouble for no results at all. With all of the scrapers and with HP's brilliant program I'll soon have...
