How do I check where my traffic sources come from?
Everytime I post a hub, I would send a link to twitter, facebook, stumbleupon, expertscolumn, redgage, wikinut, triond and many more. However, when I go to my account-traffic sources, I could not find any of these sites in it. Mostly google. So, how do I know whether these backlinks help to increase my pageviews or not?
I use Google Analytics to review my traffic sources. There is a real time feature in the interface that will also help you see the more immediate response to social linking since my experience is many of the sources will provide a burst and fizzle very quickly unless it goes viral.
You can get the analytics account for free and then configure it in the earning section.
Alternately you can use use referral trackers to track your traffic sources. This may be a little bit of a hassle for each post but if you want to see how many referrals came from each source it may be worth it.
