Why is the "thumbs up/down image sometimes white instead of the regular blue?

Often one of the hands below my comment is white or blocked out .Just wondering.

The one on the right will always remain opaque unless someone votes negatively on your comment, answer, etc. The one on the left is thumbs up, the one on the right is thumbs down. Hope this helps.

      Thanks! that sounds reasonable.

The "thumb" won't have a darker blue background until someone clicks on the image in order to vote.

I think the thumb is white because nobody has yet commented on it by clicking on it.Generally it is the left hand thumb.
