Is turning off the ad program to increase adsense a good idea?

I am close to a payout on Google Adsense so I am think about turning off the Ad program so I have more opportunity to get Adsense clicks in the next couple of weeks.    My understanding is that the ad program takes up several of the adsense spots on the page and turning it off makes all the ads available for adsense.  Is this a correct assumption that my adsense earning should go up slightly if I turn off the ad program?

Turning off the hubpages ad program should increase your adsense earnings, but the only way to know for sure is to try it.

You may even find that just having adsense increases your total earnings, which is the case for some people, but not others (including me).

Hmm it's a tricky one, and as Doctor Kristy rightfully said, you do not know for sure until you try! In fact, I might give it a go for myself, but I must admit to the fact that, whilst I do currently make a good amount of money through the Ad Program, the Adsense feature does not work too well for me. In fact, I only seem to gain around £0.03 per day through Adsense, which is abysmal to say the least.

http://lauryallan.hubpages.com/hub/is-t … se-revenue Read this to understand why you make so little Adsense when the Ad Program is switched on. I went from double digits to not even a dollar a month.

If you are close to a payout then by all means switch off the Adprogram to get the payout. You can always go back to the Adprogram later.
Your understanding is right. When you have the Adprogram on you only have one direct adsense ad at the very bottom of the page on the right. How many people are likely to scroll past all the other ads that are in your face and click on the very last ad? Not may.
Putting just adsense on will mean you will be relying on clicks to make income and no longer making money solely from views. It might be a good time for you to test and see if Google Adsense performs better for you than Adprogram.
