Yes its a good start, set a target of 10c next and work to build up.
I would not say a lot but it is a start. The more work and quality articles you publish here the more profit you can make so five cents is a great sign that what you are doing is working so keep it up! If you keep doing what you are doing now I am sure you will be making more of a profit in no time.
Earning 5 cent is not a good thing also not a bad thing for a new member. Adsense earning is totally depend upon the quality of your content and the traffic you get from different countries.
You can learn for what you have earned 5 cent and how can you improve it? This 5 cent earning will encourage you to stay active and to understand the mechanism of earning from adsense.
