I think it can be if the article was written by an expert on the topic. But one time I googled my name just to see what would come up and someone had used my article about alcoholism on Yahoo Voices as a source. The thing is, that article was actually a paper for my sociology class so I had the (much more credible) sources that I had used listed at the end. I wondered why she didn't just use one of those sources? But I would look at the author's profile to see what kind of expertise they have.

Thanks! That's a great idea. I never thought about checking out the expertise of the writer herself. ~Michele

No. Yahoo Voices, from my understanding, is little different than Hubpages. Anyone can claim to be anything or anyone, and write whatever they want.

I'd only use credible sources from official (well known) bloggers, official websites, etc
