Former Squidoo members: who are still here?
I was a Squidoo writer and found it easy to use and easy to earn. Here I have found it to be cumbersome and I have not been able to be accepted on Google Adsense, thus I'm making nothing for my efforts. How have all of you doing and what advice do you have?
That's a tricky one.
I'm still here ...for the moment.
I'm finding things a mixed bag, if I'm honest.
I don't mind the changed format and I think there are some things, in terms of editing, that HubPages does much better than Squidoo did.
However, I've not found it that good with traffic, etc, but that is probably down to me having a lack of focus - not having a proper niche, etc.
I think evergreen posts do much better here than more time sensitive stuff.
I'm doing some testing now, posting more on my blogs to compare how similar posts do there, instead of here.
Hope that helps.
Nancy.
I'd actually given up on squidoo as things just weren't happening but I got an email saying that about fifteen of my 'lenses; had been moved on so I took a look at HP and haven't looked back.
It took me about ten attempts to get onto adsense. I found that the trick is to have at least ten hubs featured when you apply. Google likes to have good material ready for their ads before they go ahead and give us adsense.
My income isn't that great ($3 US so far) but now I'm up to 38 hubs featured and really enjoying the ride.
Hubpages isn't a place where you'll earn megabucks (not with adsense) but take a look at their learning center and that will help. The one thing that HP does like is for us to specialize and network with other Hubbers.
The best way to do that is get onto to parts that you enjoy and just start networking with the Hubbers on that subject.
Hope this helps
Lawrence
Hi Lawrence, Thank you for your comment. As far as Adsense goes, I've tried 4 times and I have 28 hubs, but no success. For some unknown reason I've been labeled as having violated policy. (I'm the same person who wrote the question. See below.)
I'm only sort of here. I moved all but 9 of my old lenses to my own web sites. I've found the rules and tools at HubPages too cumbersome, and the pay too low to waste much time working on new content here, when I can earn more on my own sites, where I choose the tools, and there aren't any rules.
I do check in here every day, to make sure none of my remaining hubs are suddenly in violation of whatever today's rules are, or that they haven't been thrown under the bus by whatever or whoever decides those things. I do like answering questions while I'm here, if there are any good ones posted.
Thank you all for commenting. Here is my other Hub account. If I could merge the two together, I would, but no such luck. There is a page here which was on the top 100 list at Squidoo for months and months--maybe even it's lifetime there--and I made quite a bit from it. But, here on Hub Pages it languishes. I'm so discouraged that I don't want to write anymore.

I've just been to another farewell hub and it's sad. I just want to let all my friends who have decided to linger know that I'm still here. Though lately I've been nowhere in sight, I promise to not go away - even if somebody tries to make me.So, are you still here?

I'm 100% on the side of doing a proper beta test and taking time to make sure every kind of lens transfers with ease - from the small simple ones to the big long complex ones - like mine! I'm less bothered by WHEN my lenses transfer to HubPages than I am about WHETHER they all transfer intact -...

Just for a bit of background - I have been writing online for years, and literally have millions of words "out there". Only once did I have an AdSense account, and if I remember correctly, it was for a blog that is rarely used. It still appears, if I right-click on the blog, and view the...
