If Editor's Choice hubs are not permanent, does this hurt the traffic?

I just learned that the Editor's Choice hubs are not permanent and had noticed when I received an EC the hub name was given to the top domain so is the URL changed back? Re-directed? If so, will this hurt the traffic of that hub?
Is there an email notification given of the change? Or it is noted on our stats page?

Hmm, I'm not sure if it will definitely hurt your hubs traffic, but if you think about it, it will probably go down as it's not the center of attention anymore.
