On January 7th, around 3 am EST. to 9 am EST Stevennix stayed with a friend on the phone, about 1,000 miles away.He was able to keep this friend awake who was losing blood internally and externally. The friend did not realize how severe the situation was. Steven talked this friend into going to a hospital and stayed on the cell phone with this friend until they saw the hospital. In actuality, he saved their life. The friends blood pressure was 98 over 34 and in critical condition  and the doctors were amazed this friend of Stevens made it to the hospital. If Steven would of not stayed awake with his friend, the friend would of passed away within a day or so, if not hours. There is  a lot more to this story, but Steven stayed awake, sacraficing his sleep and his own time to stay with a friend and not let them slip away, even though they live about 1,000 miles or so apart. I know many hero's go without a thank you, but as friends of Steven's, lets all give him a handshake, hug, pat on the back, or whatever seems appropriate for the action he took. This friend did not want to bother the doctor or call 911, yet he stayed on the phone every step of the way until this friend of Stevens got to the hospital on their own , somehow, about 30 minutes away. Steven also checked on this friend day and night and does not feel he deserves anything special for what he did.
Steven was not there in person, but by his actions and determination got this person to safety, who did not realize they were in critical care to the place they needed to be by his strong will and passion for others.

Please, let's all give Steven the the warmth and honor he deserves.

I , Kerry , will be the very first one to thank Steven for his kindness and deep caring for others...

I hope you all will give him the same congratulations he deserves!

Congrats Steve!  You don't hear of stories like this anymore where people take an interest in each other.  Thanks Steve for keeping my faith in people real.

Amazing Story, I think its great that you posted it. Everyday Heroes eh. They are out there, often, with little recognition.
      Nice one Mate.

wow, thanks kerry.  i can't believe you actually did this.  I'm very honored you'd do this.  Thank you so much.  I don't know if I would call me a hero for what I did, as I think the doctors that took care of everything are the real heroes of the story.  However, I do feel lucky and blessed that I was able to make a difference in someone's life.  I used to never believe in nonsense such as destiny or fate but after it happened,  I think I might as it seems kind of predestined if that makes sense.  I just hope my friend will be okay as I do care about her a lot, and I hope she knows that.  smile

yes..I believe that on 01/07/2010 Steven ( I will not mention his last name ) became someones guardian angel, whatever posessed him to do it, he did it and deserves all the recognition he can get. I know the story and that friend really would of died from internal bleeding or worse if he wouldnt of gave up his sleep time for his friend in need.

I know the story and I think the rest of your hub friends should be aware of what a great thing you did for your friend and how generous you really are as a person with a true spirit and heart of gold...

    B.C. BOUTIQUEposted 15 years ago

I forgot to mention to everyone that the friend you helped lives in a totally different time zone than you do and you were determined to make sure they got help come heck or high water...you gave up your time and some of your personal life for a friend..it may inspire others to do the same, might be a different situation, but it may make them realize that friendship is not just when people live 9 to 5, friendship is a 24 hour, 7 day a week thing that stays strong when you show you care for your friends and are always there for them, no matter if its 3 am or 3 pm..it could be a simple problem, a relationship issue, or like in your case, life or death situation...I feel it is time people see you for who you really are Steven, not just a nickname behind an avatar

well Steven I know your friend and they think you deserve more than just a thank you written on a wall. Not everyone would do what you did.Your friend probly would not have made it that day without you and you spending your time on that friend so they got where they needed and were not alone

Not even surprised! Anyone who has read anything Stevie wrote will see what a good soul this man has. This sounds like something he would do. And I'm sure he's embarrassed by the attention.

    1. profile image0
B.C. BOUTIQUEposted 15 years agoin reply to this

yes, he might be embarrassed but he deserves every bit of praise from everyone on this one, Steven really did save a life on January 7th

  19. profile image0
    B.C. BOUTIQUEposted 15 years ago

Yes, Steven hides his wings well, but they are there, I personally know the friend he stuck it out with, 1,000 miles away from him,and they really would not be here today if it was not for Steven and his selflessness and his persistence to make the friend seek help, somehow I think he knew it was more serious than his friend realized and it was. His friend was in critical condition by the time they hung the phone up and he constantly made time to check on that friend daily and is still checking daily on his friend...

I am with you on this one Dave 100 percent, Steven is too modest to realize how much he really did and that I spoke with him recently after what he did and he is way too modest to realize that friend of his was gonna stay home and die if it was not for what he did...we need to make Steven realize what he really did for another life that was not lost because of the actions he took that night into the long morning...

I think Steve knows.  I just think he is the type of guy that doesn't look for recognition.  He does the right thing and doesn't ask for anything in return.  He truly is a hero.

i don't know if i would say i was a hero.  i thought the doctors and the nurses at the hospital were the real heros. however i do appreciate you guys supporting me like this.  smile

B.C. BOUTIQUEposted 15 years agoin reply to this

yes, they are hero's..but I personally know your friend and they would of never gotten to that hospital, or that nurse, or that doctor without your heart of gold and persisteence. Please, step up and take the glory you deserve to bask in....if it was not for you on that day your friend would of rolled over, went to sleep and possibly never woke up..so yes..there are many hero's, but in this situation YOU WERE THE FIRST HERO TO STEP UP AND GET THAT FRIEND TO WHERE THEY NEEDED TO BE. If you had not of cared that friend would of stayed in their home to die and I think you realize it but you are too modest to embrace the glory you deserve my friend.

yeah, i am modest.  i just talked her a while ago, and she told it would mean a lot to her if i accepted and embraced all this praise.  although normally i would never ask for such recognition as I don't see doing the right thing, a big deal to be honest.  However, since i know how much it means to her, i'll gladly accept all this praise and glory then.  thank you kerry so much for this.  im very lucky to have a friend like you.  smile
