Yes, either. You can even write poetry too! There are certain topics that Google doesn't like, so that means HubPages does not either.
If your article/poem is especially good it may go to the specific site relating to the topic. There's at least a dozen offshoots of HubPages now.

I'm speaking mainly on your HubPages account, but also any side (or main) blogs. Do you think it hurts or helps your Hubs to have a diverse group of articles or is it better if it's all about one thing?

Are you afraid to write a hub on that subject?Is there a subject that you're afraid to write a hub about? Perhaps you have a religious view different from the "norm" or maybe you have a really fun alien theory or paranormal story... but you don't share it because you're afraid of...
