Now that Q&A answers have ads we should be getting paid for them. I have well over 20,000 page views for my Q&A so far so I would like to know if they are added to our total page views and if they are added to the total impressions. How is the program set up now that it is no longer a trial?

I'm pretty sure that, while traffic is separate, ad revenue is incorporated into daily earnings.

20k views - that's amazing. I'm only just about to hit 3k total.

I have no complaints about my ad revenue but was just curious if I could tell the sources.

Yeah, over 20,000 views. Answering questions is like a full time job. Who was it that said "be careful what you wish for"?

I didn't realize that you could see the page views for Q and A because I was part of the test group.  Compared to you guys, I ain't got nuthin'...although I do get a fair number of emails from readers who have questions.  I see this as kind of an overlap and now that we're getting paid for page views, it would be nice if they dropped the "contact the author" link and advised people somehow to use the Q and A.

TT2, I dropped the "contact the author" option after theraggededge told me how to do so. All you have to do is go to your account page, then click account settings, then unclick "allow others to contact you". I would much rather answer a Q&A than a private email that will not help any other readers.

Unfortunately, that also kills the ability for someone to contact you privately via your profile page. However, I'm still saying thanks. Been disliking that contact author thing on my articles since the day HP introduced it; so I went ahead and used the un-contact option anyway. Anyone can still privately message me via Facebook, so no big deal.

Thanks, I think I'll do that.  No reason these people can't ask their quetions on the Q and A now that we have it.  I didn't know you could  undo that option.

Couldn't find "account settings".  Where is it?

Go here: https://hubpages.com/my/profile/profile and then on the grey menu bar you see account settings. Use a ctrl+f to find it if necessary.

I just opened your Green artilce on Toughnickel and saw that your Q&A is already working. You will get emails from HP when you get a question.
The reason I removed the "contact author" feature is that I used to get a lot of questions that could help other people if they were left as a comment. Now that this Q&A feature is on each artilce I think those questions are even better there.
In over 5 years I have probably only been contacted a few times through my profile page and email, so I did not mind making it inactive.
Yes, I have had some of those useless comments like you mention. I do not think it is a flaw, just silly people messing around. I just hide (delete) them.

It was on the 10 Brilliant Green Business Ideas article.
As far as why, I guess it depends on the subject matter of the article too. I get a lot of people telling me their dog“s situation, and then asking me "what should I do?". I have had a lot of clients do the same thing since they want to explain their particular situation. The answer may be in the article already, but it does help them to discuss it.
Some of my articles have no questions at all, and I assume they never will.

20k, 3k, I have no questions. Just one that I hid yikes

Yes HP sent out an email saying you need to be a part of the HP Ads program to get paid for these.

I'm getting way more Q&As than comments now because the Q&As are above the comment section.

Dr Mark, yes, it can take ages to work through them all and I'm only getting around 8-10 per day, most of them from the same troll. I'm still reworking them and the mods are letting them through - because it *is* useful content and helpful to others (I hope).

I waver about the Contact the Author thing... I got one of my best writing gigs, now in its 4th year, because an editor was able to contact me. I have it switched on at the moment, but don't respond to many email questions.

I probably never responded to over 90% of them.

They are moderated, so some do disappear.
