Problem with 300 Character Summary Change

Now that summaries have been lengthened to match Google's usage of longer META descriptions, I noticed that the hub summaries displayed in our profiles get truncated at 217 characters.

Only the listings we place in our spotlight display the full 300 characters of the summary.

It's good that Google can see the entire META data, but it would be nice if people could see it too when they look at our profiles.

You can see the problem on my profile. I have a bunch of hubs with longer summaries. They are all truncated at 217 characters with ā€œ...ā€ Iā€™m already experimenting with it since you requested it.

Thanks for bringing out this new change made by HubPages. I have not seen it. All my summaries are within the 200 word count.

It's just for a higher CTR as you have more real estate on the search page to pitch your article to the audience. I will modify my descriptions as I get the time.

Yep, it all makes sense based on the explanation in that article you posted in the other thread about the research with meta data length.

I just hope HP fully inplements the extra length by showing it in the profile too. All they did so far is allow the meta description to be 300 characters for Google to see, but they still truncate it in the listing display on our profiles. (Just wanted to be sure I made that clear).

I don't see this as a problem. smile

The truncated sentence reads like a teaser. I want to know how the sentence ends. So I have to click on the hub to read more ... and bingo, I'm reading the hub.
