Now that summaries have been lengthened to match Google's usage of longer META descriptions, I noticed that the hub summaries displayed in our profiles get truncated at 217 characters.
Only the listings we place in our spotlight display the full 300 characters of the summary.
It's good that Google can see the entire META data, but it would be nice if people could see it too when they look at our profiles.
Nice spot. Not seen it myself, but I trust that this is true Very likely.
You can see the problem on my profile. I have a bunch of hubs with longer summaries. They are all truncated at 217 characters with ā...ā Iām already experimenting with it since you requested it.
Thanks for bringing out this new change made by HubPages. I have not seen it. All my summaries are within the 200 word count.
It's just for a higher CTR as you have more real estate on the search page to pitch your article to the audience. I will modify my descriptions as I get the time.
Yep, it all makes sense based on the explanation in that article you posted in the other thread about the research with meta data length.
I just hope HP fully inplements the extra length by showing it in the profile too. All they did so far is allow the meta description to be 300 characters for Google to see, but they still truncate it in the listing display on our profiles. (Just wanted to be sure I made that clear).
I don't see this as a problem.
The truncated sentence reads like a teaser. I want to know how the sentence ends. So I have to click on the hub to read more ... and bingo, I'm reading the hub.

Good job hubpages! Tell all your authors to write 3 sentence summaries about their hubs. Then use these summaries for meta descriptions in the actual webpages. Stupid. I bet hubpages has millions of pages with meta descriptions that clearly violate search engine guidelines. Bing won't even index a...

I recall Hubpages only allowing 200 characters on the summaries. Now I see that you can write a longer summary for a hubpage article. Why was this implemented and when? I'm assuming it could help with search engine optimization and traffic?I wrote several articles on HP within the past...

It would be really nice if the Summary Ap had a Character Limit Counter like on twitter so you don't lose the latter part of your text when "Done Editing", then have to go back to cut the text to the required limit.

My email to Hub Pages' Team was sent 6/1/14 and read as follow:Dear Team:I have noticed that the entire summary for my hub article does not always show completely in the "featured" box under my profile page. Then, when you click on the article from that section, you can't finish reading...

Has the new template for Hub writing greatly decreased the amount of text you can have in the Summary section -- to 140 characters or so? Or has it always been this way?And if it has been reduced now, does that mean if I have keywords in the Summary beyond that 140 character limit (that have been...

How many of your Hubs are not missing a summary (A) ?I have only 7 Hubs that are not missing a summary. And with some Hubs, I am fine with them not having a summary. That's because their descriptions look just fine in search engines.
