My husband is working on our taxes.  He says he needs the employer ID number for HubPages for reporting my taxes.  If this is not the way we are supposed to add my hubpages income to our family income tax form, please let me know.

    Thanks!

IRS 1040 and Schedule C and Schedule SE! You are a sole proprietor business.

All you need is the amount of income you are declaring and the companies name to declare it is MISC income.  It is not salaried income.

Income from my private practice is not salaried income. So I added my HubPages earnings to my practice income for total income. Is that correct, psycheskinner?

Someone will answer your question  about specific legalities.
I will tell you what I do: I report my HP earnings under "income from hobby". My earnings are growing, so I might have to soon declare myself a freelance business.
However, as long as you are reporting your income on some basis... I think the IRS will be glad to tax it appropriately.

Don’t forget to deduct expenses such as use of computer, a proportion of internet connection costs, and light and heat consumed in pursuit of your hobby. I probably spend more than I earn!

I use an online tax preparation program. When I entered all my writing income (from Hubpages and others) the tax program said that because of the amount of that income, IRS rules require that it be reported on Schedule C as business income. The program listed Writer/Blogger as an official business tax category.

I don't know how much income from writing you must have before that rule kicks in, but it's something you may want to check on.
