Hi Hubbers,
I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article Best Arabic Language Courses. I've amended it 2 or 3 times in the last day or so, but it's still not featured. I don't want to delete the two Amazon products, as they are language courses. What can I do to improve? Thanks!
You need to connect the sections to your main theme of learning Arabic. This is true of the two pictures of the dolls and the camels. They are Arabic but how does it connect to learning the language? Also, the Berbers in Spain. The Rosetta amazon module would need a longer description of how you used it, why is it your choice of program to learn the language. Otherwise, that Amazon module alone will stop your passing the QAP. Maybe, organize it using the simple tool of what, where, why, and how.
Thanks for your advice aesta1. I haven't used these specific Arabic language courses, just read up on them and they have good reviews.
I was trying to show the Arabic culture with all the photos, but clearly it isn't enough to tie everything together.
I think the comments above are right. Headings should be headings rather than what seems like sentences you have just made into headings.
From the title I also expected lots of information about different Arabic courses, but instead this seems to be about your experience learning Arabic and some random facts and videos about Arabic.
Thanks for your help, Daydreams.
I can see that what you are pointing out is that there should be more fact and less chit-chat. It worked when I was on Squidoo but when I transferred this article over to HubPages it was a different ball-game and I'm never going to be able to change this article sufficiently to pass the QAP process. I could do it on many of my articles, but not this one, sadly. It really is a shame, as I have spent a lot of time trying to fix it.
I know you said you don't want to but you could try just removing the Amazon capsules? Or at least the second one - it is possible removing the Amazon capsules would mean it gets featured.
The other suggestion I can think of is to try and recycle some of the content into a "reasons to learn Arabic" article or similar- I think you could include information about your personal experience and interesting facts about Arabic and relevant cultures in an article about that and it would be more focused.
As daydreams points out, this article does not fit the title. Why you would even include a photo of Anubis on an article on the best courses for arabic?
You mention you do not want to get rid of the Amazon capsules, but unless they are a product you have used then it is going to be considered spammy.
Thanks for your advice DrMark1961.
I can see from your comments (and everyone else's) that there's no way the Amazon capsules would not be considered spammy.
I have a little collection of Egyptian ornaments - ever since I visited the Tutenkhamen exhibition at the British Museum over 40 years ago, I've loved their ancient artefacts. I thought my photo of my Anubis figurine would be relevant to show off Egyptian (and therefore Arabic) culture. I now realize that people searching a web page about best Arabic Language Courses would be looking for exactly that, and not for my little flight of fancy about ornaments as opposed to learning the lingo.
Based on the advice given to me by all three of you, all experienced and high-scoring Hubbers, I have reluctantly decided to remove/delete all my hubs about various foreign language courses, of which there are about 5 or 6, and I can then perhaps use them on my own Wordpress website or something similar.
Finally, can anyone advise me whether, if I remove from HubPages all my "not featured" and low- scoring hubs, this will make any difference to my Hub Score of 88? In other words, is the Hub Score based on an average obtained from high and low scoring hubs, so that if the low-scoring ones were removed, the average score would increase?
