I wonder what the implications are for people here who use images from Flickr?

Will they be changing the terms of the images?

They seem similar and they do say the user can remove their details and content if they choose too before it happens so it seems unlikely that it will affect anyone unless the images are removed, leaving a blank on a hub I guess!

Oh. I personally download and upload the image and credit the source. I do not call from a URL. I am not sure if HP calls from URLs if you enter a URL or if the image is downloaded to their system.

I don't use Flickr images for HubPages but do have a portfolio of my own images on the site.

Sally, y'all are so smart. I never see who is buying out or merging with whom. I don't purchase photos for use on HubPages because HP doesn't pay well enough to invest money into my hubs. I never thought of submitting any of my photos to Flickr. Glad you mentioned that.

The best idea is to take your own photos, even a mobile phone is usually good enough these days. Photos do improve a Hub.  You don't need to invest any money in HubPages, just a lot of time and effort:)  In my opinion, it is worth it.  The same Hub can earn you money for years to come if the content is useful for years to come.

That's very true, Sally, but depending on the subject matter, sometimes one is not able to take his or her own photos. For instance when writing about family genealogy, I couldn't go to Scotland to take photos and had to rely on someone else's photos.

I think that is so very true.  I did not start out writing about felting!    I learned very early on that I had to write what others wanted to read and not what my heart told me to write.  The fork in the road sometimes leads one to unexpected places.   I am so glad I took that fork because it now helps me to pay the bills.

Hi sally: I always appreciate your posts.  Just out of curiosity, how long did it take for you to start earning enough from your HP articles to start making a dent in the bills?

I made my first payment after about 7 months.  I am in an unusual situation because I have to buy materials in order to produce what I write about here.  I do know that I am able to fund my craft now and have some over:)  This is definitely not a get rich situation but one has to bear in mind that one earns from the same writing many times over.
