I'm debating whether to switch over my Amazon to the HP Amazon earning program but can't really find enough info on it to make a decision. I  know you get increased commission rates and it gets paid with HP earnings which is great (as I am in the UK and whenever I get a USD cheque I get charged £10 for exchanging it) - but do I need to set up another account and if so can I have 2 accounts running? I get some earnings from my own websites but 60-80% of my earnings come from HP so it might be worth switching I think. Anyone got any advice?

Yes, you can have your own Amazon affiliate account in addition to the one under the HubPages Earnings Program. That’s what I do.

I use my own Amazon acccont on my site, but it doesn’t pay much. On HubPages, half my earnings is from Amazon — so it was worth going with the HubPages Earnings Program since the percentage of revenue on sales is based on the entire site, not just your own.

Your results may differ, however. It all depends on how well you use the Amazon capsules and/or in-text links.

Since you are getting a major portion of your earnings from HP and not your website, I would switch to the HP amazon program. The higher commission does make a big difference.

Thanks for the replies guys, I just googled a bit more and it looks like they are on a flat fee structure now and not linked to number of sales so does that mean the commission rates on here are the same or do HP just have a deal with Amazon that makes the rates better?

They've got some kind of deal.

When Amazon announced the flat fee I thought it was going to happen on HubPages too, but it didn’t. As Brandon said, it seems the deal they made with HubPages remained. I’m still getting 8% to 10% on sales on my impressions, with a few exceptions that pay just 4%. So I think the deal HubPages has, has been grandfathered in. At least up till now.

Wow if that is the case I really need to switch over! Thanks Glenn.
