One of my hubs is being edited:

10 Simple Rules for Investing That Everybody Knows but Nobody Remembers
    https://hubpages.com/money/easy-investing-tips

I don't know who the editor is here but they changed all 3 images but didn't include where they got these images or the image sources. Who owns these images? Am I allowed to use them? I'm kind of scared.

Who do I talk to about this? Any help would be appreciated. Thx!

If the photos have no source, they are either photos we have had commissioned from our photographers, stock photos we have purchased, or public domain photos that do not require citation. Editors will never illegally use images or improperly cite them.

Christy, I have seen editors improperly cite CC images on several occasions. It's nice to believe they would never make a mistake but it happens.

Also, as the Hub author I need to know where an image came from. I'm not taking anyone's word for it. In three years I'll have no idea how a photo ended up on my Hub without attribution.

Editors need to cite images correctly.

Thx for responding so quickly. Your policy on photos is comforting to know.

With all due respect, I'm w Eric but I'm not the boss so I'll trust you.

BTW, keep up the great work!

What everybody here said, but you can always search Google Images to try and find the source if you are concerned.

It's a good idea to source images in case of copyright violations.

A "public domain image" isn't necessarily in the public domain if someone obtained a copyrighted image, uploaded it to a site such as Pixabay of Wiki Media and claimed it was public domain. Likewise with stock photos.

I have seen situations like the ones above. It's no fun getting a cease and desist letter from a lawyer.

You should have gotten an email from the editor before they started working on your Hub. Respond to it and let them know your concerns. If they ignore you, you can simply remove their images and put yours back when they are done. They are good images, but the editor needs to do this correctly.

I have run across several editors that do not follow HP's own guidelines for image attribution. That's a big problem.

Thank you for replying so soon. I sent the email.

I'm still scared but... I'm less scared.

Don't be scared. In more than 8 years I've received two emails chiding me about use of images. One guy just wanted his website linked, but I didn't like his initial tone, so I replaced the image. The second guy just wanted to be a prick. I replaced the image and moved on.

Hubpages are using either free or paid for stock images that don't need attribution. No need to worry.

It's not a requirement to put sources if you have full rights to use photos as you please. I don't think there is any need to worry.

It would be nice if they cited them IMHO.  As an author I like to make it clear that I am not improperly sourcing images.
