Hi there, my article, "An Interview with a Morris Dancer" has disappeared from my profile and also web searches. I can still see it when I look at anold Facebook post and get into the article on HubPages, and is seems fine. It has just disappeared on here though and I can't see it to share it. I am accessing via an Android phone. The article URL is https://hubpages.com/education/An-Inter … ris-Danver
I haven't unpublished it, and I see this in My Account.
The black circle means that your article is not featured due to quality issues. This means that it has a no-index tag, which is why it no longer shows up in Google.
Edit: Have you received a 'spammy elements' email? You need to review and remove some of the Amazon capsules as the policy on using them has changed.
Well this is strange. I have no Amazon capsules in there at all now. It has done its refresh, but is still Unfeatured. Is there anyway to get a response from a member of HubPages staff about this? It is not spammy, the grammar and spelling in all fine, and it's original content. I just can't figure out what the problem is now.
Maybe it is an issue with the title? I will change that and see if it makes a difference.
Your URL has a typo. It shouldn't make a difference but it might.
There are several awkwardly phrased sentences and small grammatical errors. For example, pastime, not pass-time.
Should 'side' be capitalised in 'Shakespeare Morris side'? Then maybe 'to find out more', rather than 'and'.
'We'll be at Bancroft Gardens'? or 'My interview was scheduled at Bancroft Gardens...' Or did you mean it to be quoted conversation?
You don't need to include details like timings and references to texts. It's unnecessary.
'Not wandering to hinder him...' Wanting'?
If you read the text out loud, you'll pick up many of these minor issues. Note when thee text doesn't flow, and when you have included details that are merely waffle.
Be aware of passive voice--it deadens the writing.... 'which is said to have' or 'which is thought that'.
I haven't got time to go through the whole hub, but there is a lot of cleaning up to do.
Have fun!
Thanks, maybe I need to delete it and start again with a url that is not spelled incorrectly. That has always bugged me!
A Morris Side should be capitalised, as this is what it is called. And yes, that bit about Bancroft Gardens is speech.
Thanks for proof reading though and spotting the other corrections.
Finally! It's now featured again. I really appreciate all the help and tips from everybody here.
I've changed the title to something more "search friendly", removed the Amazon capsules, and reformatted the text, tweaking a bit of it so that it flowed better. I have also added a video of the Morris Side dancing so that you can see what it looks like and enjoy the music.
Thanks for explaining! As far as I'm aware, I haven't received any notifications. I'll have a mess with the article to see if I can improve it.
Will this resolve itself then after I have removed the Amazon capsules?
There is nothing wrong with using Amazon ads as long as you do it right. I see you have not placed any content in your Amazon capsules. You need to have content that makes it clear you are using the item and explain how it relates to the title of your article. If it doesn’t relate 100% to the subject then it is considered spammy.
Is your article about an interview you conducted with a dancer? Or is it a review of a book your read? If it’s not a review of the book then the Amazon ad for that book is spammy because it’s not related 100% to the article's subject as promised by the title.
I'd written this one a few years ago, so at that point it was fine to include Amazon capsules for items that were related to the Hub's topic. I understand this has since changed. The article is an interview with a dancer, and includes content on the history of Morris Dancing. I shall have a tweak, thank you!
Since your article is about an interview with a dancer and not about the book, then you can’t place an Amazon ad for the book in that article.
However, if you had referenced the book for the purpose of discussing the history of Morris Dancing, then you can place it in your references section at the bottom in APA Style and make it an Amazon link. I’ve done this and it was accepted for niche sites.
Many thanks again for your assistance with this. I have just made some changes, and it has been submitted for review. I am hoping this is fine now.
I see you added content to the Amazon capsule. That’s a good start. But it still looks like a spammy ad because it’s not related to the title 100%.
If you mention that you learned everything you talked about from reading that book, then it won’t sound spammy. The idea is to not make it like sales pitch, which is what you’re doing right now. You need to make it more like a statement of your own experience with the book.
Once you get the hang of doing it this way, you’ll do well with Amazon ads. I make half my HubPages income from Amazon sales. So I know it works.
Thanks Glenn, I'll try that. My income took a huge nosedive when the Amazon capsules had to go. I still haven't got the hang of it, as most of my work I write about from my own research and visits. Not a lot is related to a particular book or product. I'll just delete it as I learned nothing from this book for this article, I talked to people and researched from the local archives - none of that is available on Amazon. Maybe I should start reviewing Amazon products, I'd make more money then but it would be soul destroying! *chuckles*
Well, that’s why you can’t use it in an Amazon ad, because you didn’t learn anything from that book for your article, as you had said.
So — do it the other way that I mentioned. Take something useful from that book that you can use as a quote to enhance some part of your article. Then put an Amazon text link below in the references in an APA Style as attribution for the quote.
That's a good idea! Something specific to Morris Dancing. Thanks.

I have an article on Artist Communities in National Parks. It is the same quality as other hubs on similar topics but wasn't featured. I edited, nothing, then added a list of the 50 some odd programs and it was featured. For about 3 hours. Then despite not being changed again and...

I am furious. Items that have been making sales every 3 days for 6 years have now been snipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What kind of lazy moron does this, does not look at article sales revenue before snipping the product - and this is why it has...

I am yet to successfully publish any articles with amazon products. I am trying to be clear on the requirements for these articles. I thought articles should be limited to 1-2 products, however I have seen list based articles with multiple products (ideas for gifts) on niche site, Holidappy. Would...

Hi MickiIf you've noticed I've not written any hubs recently, I'm on my vacations from University and thought of doing a 30 hubs in 30 days challenge. Rather, I've gone for a 30 Wizzley articles in 30 days - for a good reason: Their amazon Capsules are way better formatted - users feel like...

Is there a balance of Amazon products on a page that makes a hub overly promotional? Or is it dependent on the individual hub (over and beyond the 50 words per product)?
