Need some advice. Should I allow only signed-in HP members to comment on hubs? That's what I've been doing since the beginning (to weed out spam) but now I'm not so sure...

This is from the HubPages blog:

"Only signed-in users may post comments: If you choose this option, only other Hubbers will be able to comment on your Hubs. Readers who do not have a HubPages account won’t be able to leave comments for you. We generally recommend requiring approval for all comments instead of choosing this option because readers without a HubPages account can still leave great comments. However, this can be a good option if you are a victim of harassment or stalking and don’t want to see the offending posts before disapproving them." What do you guys think? How do you guys do it? Any insight would be appreciated.

    Thx for reading.

I prefer comments from any and all.  Most of my comments are questions about specific problems and I'm more than happy to help.  It also, I think, builds incoming links when readers are happy with the help they get.

Didn't see it that way. I'll give it a shot. Thx for the quick reply!

I've set comments to everybody, but I must approve them first.

Me too. Since forever. I don't see any point in excluding anyone. Plus they ask questions in the comments which can spark ideas for new hubs.

I generally allow all comments unless I'm going to post a topic that I know trolls will be drawn to.  Then, I limit the comments.  I don't want to spend my time weeding out the troll comments.  I'm too busy for that!

Most of my best comments come from non hubbers.

SgtCecil, some members also spam.I think you should moderate comments from members and non-members.The back stops with the author.

I have always allowed comments from everyone, and wit over 300 hubs I have only had three or four comments that were ever spam or inappropriate.
