I have two questions, in fact it is the same question repeated, that won't stay hidden.I hide them and next time I log in, they are there again, showing as unanswered. We had this before, I think.

They've been there for a couple of weeks. I'd be grateful if a techie could take a look and get rid of them.

This issue has been resolved. You can now hide repeated questions.

I informed HP staff about this problem way back on 22 June. They have told me that they are working on it but I now have about 10 of these that show up even if they are hidden.
This is the last reply I have received, July 7.
"Yes, I'm sorry you are experiencing this.  We hope to have this fixed as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your patience!

    Thanks,
    Team HubPages"

I wonder if the problem isn’t a bug, but that some troll is repeating the same question over and over.

You can easily find out if this is the problem by changing your filter to “Hidden” and you’ll see all of them that you had hid.

No, they aren't under the hidden filter at all. I hide them, they disappear. I refresh the page or come back later and they are back in the unanswered queue.

Just out of curiosity, the next time you hide a question, go immediately to the hidden filter to see if the one you just hid is there. Then we’ll know if the hidden stuff is reverting back again.  I haven’t had the problem you mentioned, so I’m curious what is happening on your end.

No, they aren't appearing under hidden at all. I checked back to 8 days ago when the questions were asked. There are others there from that day. As soon as I revert to unanswered, there they are back again.

All other questions are behaving normally. It's only these two rogue duplicates.

Strange. I’m out of ideas. It sure does seem like a bug, but it’s weird that it’s only happening to you. I had one person who left a couple of similar questions. But when I hid them, they remained under the hidden filter as expected.

DrMark has them too, and it happened before when the Q&A first launched.

As I mentioned above, it is not happening only to Bev.

Got it. It sure is a curious thing. None of my hidden ones ever came back.

                  Just got this email today:
                  Hello Dr. Mark,

This is still an on-going fix on our end.  We apologize for the inconvenience!

I have the same issue. I answered 10 questions last night and wasted 2 hours of my time, and they showed up as not answered. I have never interpreted astrology on HP, I have only written instructional articles to teach the meanings of planets in each astrology sign in certain series. This is a completely different thing from casting and interpreting a horoscope, a tiny element, but those articles account for around 50% of my body of work. The people aren't asking questions about the article.

People want interpretations. I finally gave out two links to show a person how much work they were asking me to do for free (not that I ever would ask a fee or interpret a chart for a Q&A question), and got grief for it from Matt. I was merely trying to show my questioners the types of questions I can't answer here because I don't have the right info or time. I am afraid to hit "Pause" because some of the questioners are suicidal or need mental help and I feel I have to refer them to get help.

I don't need this aggravation and at least the administration could try to either get this annoying feature to work right or get rid of it.

So keep them paused, Jean. There's no point in having them switched on if they are a pain. You are not responsible for other people's mental health. Add a paragraph to the relevant hubs that you are unable to give psychiatric advice because you are not qualified to do so, and for them to contact a professional.

This is what I put on the bottom of my tarot hubs, in bold. 'Please do not ask for a free reading.' They still do ask though. I just click Hide and pouf! They're gone. You don't have to answer every question, just the ones you want to.

As for the ones you did last night, check the filter for Answered... as long as you clicked Save they should be there.

                Hi Bev,
Yes, I'm hitting "Pause" a lot more now. I realize many of these people don't understand how much they are asking for. I write about many other topics too.

People seem to want to blame their problems on astrology or some other scapegoat. Some of them are so messed up, I don't want to get involved. I don't use astrology in everything I do. I look at my chart about twice a year. The time would be better spent writing new material.

I have a couple of those. I just put a full stop into each and that solved the problem. The asker probably wasn't impressed though!

Some dupes do not allow any answer. If you try to answer the response from the program is "this question has already been asked".

  6. theraggededge profile image83
    theraggededgeposted 6 years ago

Okay, with a little experimentation, based on eubug's full stop solution, I've fixed it. I edited the first one so that it is a proper question related to the topic. Answered it. Then I hid the second one, refreshed the page and it stayed hidden--yay!

I wish that solution worked for me. It does not. This is what happens if I try to use it.

Dog Breeds That Will Probably Kill Your Chickens

        Question:

Will a husky border collie mix kill our future chickens? edit
        2 days ago
Will a husky border collie mix kill our future chickens?

That question has already been asked.

Is the spelling and grammar of the question correct?

This reader is probably going to adopt a husky border collie mix that will then kill all of his chickens. The reader really needs an answer. I am not able to do so.

theraggededgeposted 6 years agoin reply to this

Yes, that's what I had, but somehow it let me edit the question this time. Once I did that, I could hide the other one.

If you can change it to 'Will a border collie/husky mix kill hens?', it'll work.

My count keeps going up. I have three different one with 2 to 4 dupes of each. They will hide as mentioned, but they come right back, I cannot answer the "grammar question" either way, yes or no, on any of them. This is just a nuisance, but it is a nuisance that is growing.

Yep, I have five that keep coming up.

really not fond of this feature as it seems to replace the comments section and most people are not asking anything but are attacking.

Seems mine is the same.  Didn't realize it was happening with duplicates in terms of not being able to be answered or edited in any way - thought it was just in terms of hiding questions.  This was reported back on June 22?  That's a long time to fix a bug.  I take it the question isn't being asked multiple times by the reader but that it is a glitch somehow replicating certain questions and then not allowing them to be dealt with in any way?
