I received a message from hubpages that one of my articles was stolen so I clicked on the link to my stolen article and sure enough it was totally copied and pasted to this other site. Thank you very much Hubpage team for catching that. Anyhow, I noticed that on this other person's site my article could be shared under their link on all the social media sites. I decided to put the site in facebook and twitter to see if I could find the person and ask fb and twitter to block them from being able to share the link. I filled out a report with facebook and twitter so I'll let you know what happens, if anything. The site that stole my article is healthdiary365.com so when I searched for that on twitter it shows one person who shared many, many articles so I assume she is the person stealing articles.

That looks familiar. Just get the copy taken down by contacting the site's web host. Then they can share all they like; it'll be a dead link wherever it's posted.

It's wordpress.org and I couldn't find a way to contact them about it. What I found said that they don't deal with any of that and it's up to me.

That's right. Wordpress.org basically provides a blog structure for self-hosted sites. It doesn't host sites itself (unlike wordpress.com).

So you have to take the domain name of the offending site, paste it into whois.com and you should be able to find the host. Here, I've just done it:

          https://www.whois.com/whois/healthdiary365.com

It looks like the web host is liquidweb.com

So find the contact details of liquidweb, copy the DMCA provided by HubPages, making sure to put in all your details and send it to them, either by the form provided or by email.

Thank you. I will definitely follow your instructions. I'm also hopeful that maybe facebook and twitter will shut down the person's pages. I'm sure they will just make new ones but since I have to go through this trouble might as well make them do a little work too. smile

I doubt that FB and Twitter will do anything because the person won't be violating their ToS. Posting links isn't an offense. You can only report abuse when they publish the whole article.

I had to deal with FB a while back, where someone had posted a complete article of mine on their business page. They eventually removed it but it was a hassle.

To be honest, I wouldn't waste my time trying to get links removed. They won't do it.

Ok, thanks. I did contact liquid web through livechat and he gave me the email to send the DMCA to and he also did a whoishostingthis search and told be to send all that info that he gave me too. I've been having trouble with my computer sticking and haven't gotten into my email yet but I copied everything and I'll paste it when I get the danged thing to open. smile You and Steven from liquid web helped me out so much. It was really so nice of both of you.

Oh that's horrible when that happens.  *Touch wood* that's never happened to me, but what a nightmare it must be to get these copied articles taken down!

I've been on here for almost 6 years now and that was the first time it happened to me. Thankfully theraggededge and Steven from the hosting site were very helpful so it wasn't really as bad as I expected it to be or it would have been if I had to figure it all out on my own...still I have to wait and see how long it takes to come down.
