I just updated my profile, and I am curious. Have you ever updated your profile or made slight changes to it?
Two years ago plus I performed a major overhaul - in light of a substantial increase in niche views - to give visitors more info on my background and to give the profile a stronger foundation.
A month ago I updated again, adding a bit more, actual viewing stats, which I hadn't done before.
I never used to think the profile that important, now I'm not so sure. It's a question of balance - too much info can put people off, too little leaves them dissatisfied.
Eh, I put my two successful baseball things on the display during baseball season. The text? Some of it has been there from the very start. I'm not convinced my bit of biography on there is useful to me much at all. I do look at it and tweak it every so often.
I'm pretty me first here. I'm not a big community guy. I will help people when I think I've got the answer to their questions, but for the most part, I'm really just interested in creating good content. New content. For some reason I've yet to figure out, I don't like messing with older stuff. I seem to only want to create new stuff.
Sometimes I see someone say something interesting, and I'll go to read their 'about' section. A lot of the time I find they've not put much of anything there.
Maybe I need to do something about mine. In 10 years, I’ve only updated it once and that was about 5 years ago.
Viryabo, you can look at others and see if you need to update for the trend.
Let me know when you have updated your profile. I'd like to check it out.
Whenever I post a new article I add it to the "In the Spotlight" rotation on my profile. Does that count as "updating?"
Otherwise, I think the last time I updated was when I won the "Funniest Hubber" award last year, I changed my bio to mention that I had won said award for two years running.
I really never thought about until recently. I think I made an update about 5 or so years ago when I got married and moved. My life had changed so I updated my profile. Now, it has been another 5 years and I recently updated my profile again. I think that's really a good rule of thumb - 5 years unless you have a significant life changing event or if something in your profile makes a dramatic change. This also holds true for things like changes in your job as a writer, like if you publish a book.
That's my point of view anyway. Best of luck!
I've been a little ambitious in changing my profile picture, as I try to keep it similar to my Facebook page. So, maybe quarterly it gets changed. Since I'm now residing in Michigan for the summer, I should update the content.

affect the authors search engine rankings on other pages, blogs, or websites?

Looks like Google made another algo change earlier this week. My traffic rose about 25% on my main HP account around this time, so I'm guessing the update was the cause. My traffic is still low by historical standards (down by more than a third from the start of the year), but I...

I an not sure whether the current Google's update, Broad Core Algorithm update, referred to as May 2022 update, that was rolled out yesterday, May 25, and which will run for 2 weeks, is the cause of people outside of U.S. not seeing ads on their hubs, and the others hubs on Hubpages and its...

As I plow through the lenses to become hubs, two of them I edited do not show the change date of the edit although the updates are visible. Since I am using the date to keep track of the edited lenses, I keep re-editing them but the original date never changes. Is this an issue on HubPages or a...

Some articles you can add to (or update?) every week, but should you? Does anyone know if how often you add to an article changes (positively or negatively) your views, earning potential, etc.

I already have it. You can have it too.
