Stats for this hub never seem to tally and there's always a large discrepancy. Hubpages shows there's a lot of traffic from "other" sites whatever they are. Currently traffic reported by HubPages on the accounts page is 450 per day. According to GA, it's 120 per day on average.

Eugene, I’ve been having the same problem with the HP and GA stats for as long as I can remember. I’ve even devised one mathematical formula to calculate the “real” number of daily/weekly page views at HP, and another formula with GA. The two amounts never coincide. Yes, the HP amount is always higher. Always.

Just so folks know, this was discussed years ago. For whatever reason, the programming/coding never did get straightened out. As I understand it, the problem is on Google's end and not HP's.

I like the number of page views on HP's stats much better. Obviously.

Especially since that is what they base their pay on (minus the 40% of course). big_smile

          Absolutely!

So possibly it has something to do with different interpretations between HP and GA about what constitutes a view, depending on how long a visitor stays on a page?

That sounds like a strong possibility.

Just noticed in the related forum posts below, I posted this question before, 8 months ago (well for UK stats, that is).

Interestingly GA reports that for the 26th July, 90% of traffic was organic from Google. According to HP, about 50% was from Google, the rest being "other". Like the Internet traffic equivalent of Dark Matter smile

Interesting. Recently, someone put a link to one of my ToughNickel articles on Facebook. According to HP’s stats, the article has been receiving about 200 page views a day. GA is not reporting that amount of traffic at all. Yes, GA always reports that the bulk of my traffic is organic from Google. OK, like you said above, it could be the amount of time that someone is spending on my article.
