Why does Hubpages always delete an Amazon post when they snip an article?
They will do if the product is not related to the article. I only add Amazon ads which are needed to create an item or are things which I have had personal experience of using.
Yes, and some people who are not experienced in writing copy can really write some silly lead-ins to the product. I'm not talking about you, Sally, because I don't recall placing any of yours I've read into that category.
They deleted a book that was pertinent to my article, but I seldom put anything from Amazon up any more. I think you are doing it right.
They snipped an amazon ad in one of my recipe articles. It is the gluten free flour mix I use in my recipe that I posted and I talked about the flour in a text box as well. It was very relevant to my article and they still snipped it.
Have you activated it or deactivated it? Thats why they deleted mines and I think they will if the product is not related to the article.
Pam,
This has happened to me too. If you include an amazon capsule, they want you to spend some time talking about your personal experience with the product, and it needs to be related to your article topic. They also prefer you use the text link instead of the capsule.
Although their goal is to have a quality article that isn't overly promotional, it is annoying when your article itself only earns peanuts and then they try to inhibit your chances of earning a more substantial income by deleting your amazon capsules! It really takes away the incentive of writing on this platform.
We are thinking about reader intent when we leave or snip products. Did the reader come to the page with the intent of purchasing something? If so, then a product is warranted. If not, then it’s probably not useful (and google may penalize you for adding one). I suggest that everyone Googles their main query and studies the results. What is Google showing? Do they have shopping results, videos, photos, maps, etc. Google is really good at understanding reader intent, so we can use those clues to create articles that will satisfy readers.
We allow products in articles and in most cases will not snip them if:
1. You have personally used the product and give a genuine, first person review of the product. (This is really important for products on Network Sites!)
2. They are 100% relevant to the content.
3. A reader would be happy to see the link and not be confused or feel like they are being sold something for the benefit of the writer.
4. The topic is commercial, e.g., if you googled the keyword of your topic, you will likely see shopping results.
Helpful Tips:
- Use in-text links that are less distracting to the reader.
- Consider the topic of the article. Search engines may expect to see products on commercial topic. In most cases, an article on poetry shouldn't have a product. You can check this by Googling your main keyword and seeing if products are shown.
- Think about reader trust. Ask yourself if you would be adding the product if you had no financial gain from it. What is your intention? If it's to help the reader, then include it. If it's for your benefit, consider removing it.
- Only include products that are specific and the reader might have a difficult time finding, e.g., if you're writing a recipe article and linking to flour on Amazon, this will always get snipped.
- Take a look at your sales for that particular product. If you have had no sales (this includes gateway sales of other products from this page) then remove the product. It's not in your best interest to keep the product.
We understand that our policy on products is strict, but our intention is to ensure that all articles and all Network Sites are protected. We were told specifically that Amazon products were a problem.
I hope that answers your question! Let me know if I can be of more help.
If you are trying to advertise your business, you won't be able to publish your article.
Those snipers get everywhere. I would advise purchasing a bulletproof vest for your article. Use binoculars to survey vegetation, buildings, and other places where a sniper might be hiding before bringing your article out into the open.

I understand the editing process, quality control and for articles not to appear "spammy" My article was about slat chlorine generators and a sentence in there about testing salinity levels in the water. "This can be done by using a salt test meter or salt test strips" I...

I am yet to successfully publish any articles with amazon products. I am trying to be clear on the requirements for these articles. I thought articles should be limited to 1-2 products, however I have seen list based articles with multiple products (ideas for gifts) on niche site, Holidappy. Would...

I have had a hub on this site for several years that only contained TWO eBay capsules. Today, they were "snipped." What is the point of partnering with eBay if HP is going to interfere with that? Now, I understand that too many "spammy elements" as they call...

Right now, it feels as if I'm in a headlock with one moderator, over one product capsule.Team Hub Pages suggested I post here for suggestions on improving my hub with the most traffic. it was recently edited and several product capsules were removed. Then I put them back in. Then it was unfeatured...
