I'm currently working on a fictional story for this site.  It'll be an ongoing blog series on hubpages that I hope does well here.  Don't worry I still plan on reviewing films again soon, but I do want to branch out and write about other topics as well, with this new story being one of them.  While I'm fairly sure where I want to go with it, what I want to ask is does anyone have any advice they could lend me?  I've written fictional stories before, but that was ages ago, so I could use any advice any of you are willing to lend me.

A properly written short story has a high chance of being transferred to Letterpile. However, as many Hubbers have highlighted, Letterpile doesn't do well in terms of traffic.

Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the basic structure and rules of creative writing being at odds with standard SEO tenets. It's probably the case too that most people search by authors or genre. In other words, unless you're already well known, chances are, you wouldn't be found via a search engine. If your story is even listed at all.

The above said, poor traffic doesn't mean no traffic. My own Letterpile hubs have short bursts of traffic. Also, if you have the time to spare, you can use such stories to boost your portfolio, support your better performing hubs, provide insight for your top hubs etc. It's up to you whether you want to throw in the time necessary.

Sad to say, but it's the truth. You will not make any money with fictional stories, not here and not on your own site. It's just the way it is. Actually, it's understandable; apparently no one ever does any searches for that kind of thing.
