Hello! I've been in Hubpages for about 7 weeks now and everything's going smoothly. Though, I am a bit troubled about finding new (and exciting) things to write about. I would just want to know, and am wondering, if you guys have any ideas (of which you haven't made into an article) or topics you guys would like to share that some of us could do research on (or not, depending if they already know the subject) and write about that may interest you and other people? Thanks!
I find the best way is to type a word or phrase (a subject that you are interested in or know lots about) into Google and before pressing Enter, see what suggestions come up in the box.
Then press Enter and scroll down to the bottom of the page to see what the other related searches are. That way, you can just about come up with instant titles.
This is a problem for many of the new writers to search a good subject and craft it under a good article presentation. Frankly speaking it is difficult to search new subjects and we have to be contented with whatever is there in the books and ocean of internet.
Ideally you should write about things you know about, have experience of and maybe studied. Then you can answer questions from readers and draw on your experience and add more information over time, or branch out on the topic. You can use Ubersuggest to try out different keyword ideas relevant to what you want to write about and investigate the frequency which those terms are searched for and then optimise your title to suit. You could spend lots of time writing a brilliant article, but if there's lots of competition for a topic, no interest in the topic or users don't search for what you think is a good title, then you won't get many views, so title choice and subject is important. Ultimately it's up to you to decide on what you want to write about. Personally I don't like when people just research a topic to write about which they have no knowledge of whatsoever and then appear to be an authority on it.
You can go to Googletrends to see what is trending and give you some ideas. Fair warning, however, as those topics are being covered by hundreds of sites.
As Eugene points out, the best thing to do is write what you know about. If you just pick some trending subject and write about it, you are most likely only going to research stuff that is already out there and your article will have little value.
As far as getting subject ideas from other writers on here: well, why should they give you their ideas?
Maybe write about the degree you're taking in college? It could be a guide for prospective students who intend to take the course and make it specific to the college you're studying in. You could pad it out as you go from year to year. I think computer games is a lucrative area too. (although probably very competitive).
I have a spreadsheet. When I get an idea, read about something that interests me, hear something on the radio or TV, I put it on the spreadsheet and one day I will get around to researching and writing them all lol! I probably have about 5 years worth of ideas
I'm in this boat. I'm actually more of a creative writer so my hubs are mostly chapters from my 2 novels. My earnings are really low because I don't get much traffic. But I try not to copy articles that are already on Google.
I think when you have no idea for new articles, you can search on google trend, can see many suggestions on it

How long do you take to think about a subject you want to write about before you write the article.I take far too much time just thinking about a subject before I begin to write. I feel like I am crippling myself by not just jumping in and writing.

Recently, my articles have been rejected for moving to a niche site. The site I am submitting the articles to is ‘LevelSkip’. They always give the same generic response, saying that the issue is Experience Based Content. Experience Based Content is very problematic because it is unclear what it...
