How do I follow a simple writing schedule?

    Hello fellow hubbers,

I would love anyone's insight in the following question:

How can I better schedule my writing time each day? If you don't have the answer but know of one out there, can you please forward me the link to that article or hub?

I find my problem is that I enjoy researching and going thru helpful tips, tricks, talents of the trade, basically anything and everything that has to do with learning to be a better writer, but I'm not actually writing and publishing myself. In other words, I love reading about being a writer, but I don't take the time to write anything (I mean sometimes I do).

So how do you manage your writing schedule?

How do you balance your "learning how to write" time with your actually writing?

My husband always tells me to just give all these notebooks full of "how to...succeed" a rest and actually write, and he is right, and just can't seem to pull the plug.

Any help or ideas besides a kick in the butt are welcome!

    Thanks,
    Michele

PS. I do try to divide my day into writing, cleaning, and knitting, my problem is what I DO during the writing block of time.

I have found that making an outline of my article makes my writing time more productive.  Rather than working on an entire article, I can concentrate on just a piece of the article.  Gradually my outline fills in and my article is finished.  Sometimes in one day, sometimes in two days.  Occasionally it takes me three days to finish writing and filling in my outline.  If you look at any of my hubs, you can get an idea of how my outlines look by reading the headings of each section.  Hint - they are part of my outline.

Thank you so much for sharing. This was the motivation that I needed. I have recently tried to do a bit by bit (factory type content strategy) each day on several of my hubs, but I get caught up in being a perfectionist.

However, as I read on to the end of your advice and went to look at some of your hubs, I got very encouraged.

You were right! Most of your hubs do follow a sort of formula and I love it! I have tried to do something like that, but I never seemed to copy and paste the right information that I need for a featured/stellar hub. Your hub and response here have dusted out the cobwebs in my brains and inspired me to give it another shot!

Thank you for sharing and motivating me on here! It was all just exactly what I needed to hear!

        Thank you so much!
        Michele Kelsey
