I got this website from this forum a few days ago.  I was reading through it tonight and found that several internet providers provide very cheap like10$ per month internet service.  So I decided to call my internet provider which I have been with for over 10 years and see if they have any provisions for low income people.  We talked a bit, I told her what some other providers are doing for low income people and she cut my internet bill from 87$ a month to 42$ a month for 2 years.  Am I happy!

42$ a month? I paid 7,95$ per month and once a year 15,99$ for domain renewal.

Maybe Titia means web hosting, not home internet?

Perhaps it depends on the region one resides in. I pay $35 per month for unlimited access to the internet. I’m quite happy with this, I guess.

I live in a smaller city.  I have only 2 or 3 choices of servers available here.  I think the larger cities have more choices available.

I am regularly in contact with our internet provider, either because our bill is incorrect or the price has increased again. I am amazed that one phone call can often prompt a reduction, but I am so fed up with having to call them that I am minded to switch provider when the contract is up.
My biggest gripe is with home insurance. I always have to chase the renewal quote, because they leave it as late as possible, hoping I will auto renewal. It is usually way higher than the previous year's price, but as soon as I quibble, they knock a big percentage off. It definitely pays to query costs, haggle and shop around these days.

I pay 5.95 a month.  Negotiating fees is a smart tactic because it works for me. It is time-consuming, but I look at it as working by the hour when I save money.   Happy New Year!
