I don't know whether it's typical, but I have an animated graph GIF leading to Owlcation that gets six or seven pins per day, but the CTR rate is 0.1%. I guess a lot of the time people just collect pins without actually visiting links (I think there used to be a "visit URL" button once?).
How can we encourage viewers to visit?
