Dear community members, I have written my first hub, and I am yet to publish it. I read the article about image attribution and I am confused. Could someone help me with the attribution part?

I would like to use the images from google into my hub. So, what steps should I take to properly attribute them?

    Thanks,
    Sehrish

      Hi there,

      You should read this:https://hubpageshelp.com/content/Learning-Center-legal-image-use

Tip: you can't take images from Google - they don't belong to Google smile You need to use Creative Commons licensed images or Public Domain images. There are several good sites, try Pixabay, Pexels, and Unsplash.

Thanks for your quick response. I would like to add image of the "The north sentinel Island" on my hub and there are no images on the websites like Pixabay, Pexels, etc. Please help me add an image to my hub.

    Thanks,
    Sehrish

There are not going to be a lot of pictures of a place you are not allowed to go. You will just have to do without.

You did a great job with your hub, Sehrish! You do need an image of some sort, though. Even if you can’t find one, you need something that relates to the subject.

I would suggest a map of the North Sentinel Island or the area of the Andaman Islands. You will need to find one that is free of copyright, or one that allows commercial usage free.

Okay, so I tried to do some digging. With a search I found a map that would be perfect for you. It shows the location of North Sentinel Island. The problem is, it’s copyright protected by pre-tend.com. But...

You can write to them and ask for permission to use it, and how they would want you to specify the attribution. I’ve done that in the past, it usually works. Give them a link to your article. If they respond with a confirmation, save that for your records.

The map image is at  https://pre-tend.com/the-secrets-of-nor … el-island/

You will need to scroll down a little to see the map I’m talking about.  You can send them your request via their Facebook page. They have a link to send a DM (direct message):

    https://www.facebook.com/pretendstory/

    Good luck.

Thank you so much, Glenn. I am glad that you liked the article. I will surely leave them a message tomorrow. Thanks once again and have a good night.

You could use the Public Domain ones on Wikipedia as place-holders for better images later.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Sentinel_Island

You'll have to look at each image for citation requirements. You can also take a screenshot from Google Earth and/or Maps, I believe.
