Hello Hubbers!
I'm looking for your insights about my article. This is my second article that isn't passing the quality assessment test and I really hope you can tell me why, what exactly is the problem?
I changed my first article several times (probably 5-6 times) according the tips shared on the forum, but it still didn't get published. Eventually, I gave up because I did everything according to the guidelines and, yet, it still wasn't published. So, I decided to start a new and write another one. Again, this one is rejected few times.
Please take a look at it and share your opinion?
Here is my article: How Seo Specialists and Web Developers Help Each Other Out (must be signed in to view)
Hi Milan,
I'm sure this will go through with a few tweaks.
Remove the reference to your business in the article bio.
Try removing the two links at the end. Also remove references to them in the text. You can always add them back in later.
Make the intro a little more 'readable'. I had to read it a couple of times. How about changing it to
"There's one search engine which is the gold standard for web developers and site owners: Google. There are over two billion websites all competing to be on the first page, i.e. in the top ten of Google's search results."
Always write numbers lower than 10 in full.
It's 'SEO specialists'. Don't capitalise unnecessarily.
You've used 'SEO' 33 times - that's too many. Find another way of saying it. Same with 'specialist'.
Make those changes and see how it goes.
Good luck.
Thank you so much! I'll make the changes right away!
Hello again! I did the suggested changes and, again, it was rejected.
This becomes really frustrating, as I am following all the guidelines and improving the text according to your suggestions, and still - not good enough.
I can't help but notice the other posts that are being published on here and I honestly feel they are no better than the efforts I'm putting into my article to make it work.
Can you tell me what exactly is the problem now, as the text is not of promotional nature, neither has references to my business at all? It is a merely informational article that explains the nature of the relationship between the SEOs and web developers.
Thanks
Yes, you are right Milan, I've seen much worse articles get approved. My suggestion is that you run the text through Grammarly and make any changes. Then submit it again. If it doesn't pass, keep making small changes until it does. It's frustrating but it will go through.
Here's a sentence I would change, "It is imperative the content on the pages to be optimization-friendly."
"It is imperative that page content is optimization-friendly." Watch out for unnecessary instances of the verb 'to be'. I've hidden it in the single verb, 'is'. Your version isn't wrong, but it's 'wordy'. Here's the next sentence:
"According to the latest trends and clues by Google, quality content, which is 100% unique, engaging, and easily understandable, will raise its value."
A cleaner version:
"According to Google's latest suggestions, valued content is 100% unique, engaging, and easily understandable."
After Grammarly, you could try the Hemingway app - it's helpful for style. And they are both free.
Good luck.
Thank you for your support, I won't give up this time
I'll keep on changing bits until it is published.
It would be better, though, to have access to the insights of the editors/moderators because that way we will know exactly what is keeping the article from being published even though all the guidelines are followed.
Hi Milan.
I found your article a little bit 'clunky' to read. It's too time consuming to provide comprehensive advice, but suggest the following:
1. Listen and follow Bev's advice above.
2. Re-write your bio.
Instead of, 'I am Milan Savov, a front-end developer of over 10 years who enjoys creating incredible website experiences and writing about them.' try something like, 'Milan Savov is an experienced front-end developer who enjoys creating incredible website experiences....'
You don't need to say you like to write, as that is superfluous.
3. I would be inclined to have two headers towards the opening that describe 'What Is a SEO Specialist?' and 'What Is a Web Developer?'
4. Be careful of the differences between English and American English. You use 'Optimise' in your headings, but 'optimization' in your text. As largely American-based audience, probably best if you adopted 'optimize.'
5. Replace the headers, 'The List Continues' and 'In a Nutshell.' Try and be more specific about the content.
6. Replace the Freepik image, as it is watermarked.
Hope this helps!
Also check the last sentence or two of the rejection email. Often the specifics are hidden there under the boilerplate text.
Hello again, I've been editing the article several times now with small changes, and the last time I did some major changes. It is still not evaluated high enough to pass the test.
Can you take a look and give me some specific advice on what to change?
Thank you

Which is the most important for search engine searches: the Hub summary or the first paragraph of the Hub? I thought the summary was most important, but I notice that sometimes searches show the first sentences in the hub. Are both equally important?

I'm conducting an SEO study of my articles with the 18th highest views to the 25th highest views based on 30-day views. I have recently edited all of my articles by adding more concise words or fixing errors when I can find them. I'll usually use multiple tools like Grammarly, pasting into MS...
