Paragraph text italicized is now heavier whereas before it was the same.
Is this deliberate or is it because I used block quotes in this example? (I use these for indenting, but the formatting of the result is now totally different)
    Here's a before and after:

Could you send me a link to your article? I'd like to dig around a little bit if that's ok.

Here it is Samantha. Those vertical lines are odd too. They never appeared on the old sites.

I went in a did an "edit," so you'll get an email, but I didn't make any changes (aside from removing some white space I found).

When you just italicize regular text, it does not become bolded or "heavier." It is just because of the block quotes that it appears that way in your article. Personally, I think it looks kind of nice when you are quoting someone as it really puts emphasis on that text. The same can be said for the example equations you have in your article.

Is this something you are unhappy about or were you just pointing it out?

I don't like the vertical lines, they look odd Sam. I've used block quotes for indenting in loads of articles, so I'm going to have to undo all that work. The bolding is a bit on the heavy side (Also where the font is used for  H2 titles, I think it's a bit on the large side and heavy, but it's subjective).

I'm sorry that you don't like the vertical lines, but I don't think that will change. Honestly, I think it looks pretty good. As someone who isn't great at math, the fact that the equations really pop will make it easier to scan the article and connect them to the images. Maybe ask around a little to see what others think?

.....it might grow on me though smile . It looks ok for a single line of equations.

It does not look bad tbh. Looks good for single line stuff and just equations. Where you have text within it, it does not look that great anymore (multiline). i.e. where you give an example to the Pythagoras theorem.

Still better than what it was prior to this change I guess?

The blockquote tag is not meant for equations, so that line may not go away as it is typical to use something like that for a blockquote. Since Owlcation is a decent site in terms of traffic it may we worth adding an equation module. In terms of general HTML/CSS it is not hard at all, I have a latex output for my website.
