Any help would be greatly appreciated to get my latest article to pass QC, thank you!
A 250 Year Old Staffordshire Murder Mystery
I'll have a go
Needs a decent intro... maybe explain where the village is, and even where, geographically, Staffs is. Explain to the reader what the piece is about. It's your second chance (after the title) to grab your reader's attention.

Remove the subheading above the images. Use captions underneath only.
Review the 'would have's. Sharpen up. For example, "The priest would have belonged to St Margaret's Church." "The priest belonged to St Margaret's Church" is much stronger.
By the way, what priest are you referring to? And priest or vicar? Or maybe 'clergyman' would be better?
Here's another example, "Neighbours would have known each other, they would have known each other's business." Use 'knew', lose the 'would have'.
Remember to link back to the source of the images, if possible.
Get rid of unnecessary 'verb to be's: "There are a few records that survive that may give some answers." or "A few surviving records may provide answers." Can you see how you can strengthen your writing?
Remove one of the Amazon capsules. In fact, remove both. It would be much better if you talked about the book within the text and used the title as anchor text for the link. HubPage is discouraging the use of capsules because people using ad blockers can't see them.
So... highlight the text required. Click on the chain link icon in the text toolbar. Click on the Amazon tab and select the book. Click Save.
Hope that helps.
That is a fantastic help thank you. I thought you had to have the capsule title as well so thank you for that.
Also, I thought you had to use the Amazon capsule to earn through Amazon referrals?
I will go through my article now and make the changes. Thank you. Its all a learning curve!
It's definitely a learning curve.
You'll earn if you use the link method - and will have more chance of getting a click-through.
Re the getting on a niche site. Your aim should be to get your article moved by the editors to one of the HubPages network (niche) sites. In this case, it'll be Owlcation. You'll get more traffic and exposure.
OK thank you again!
The issue I have with the link is I am writing about things in the UK, so the Amazon capsule allows me to use Amazon UK products. But when I use the link method it is the US Amazon and in $.
Is there any way of using the link method with Amazon UK?
No if I use the Capsule and use the ISBN/ASIN number it's the UK Amazon.
I just clicked on the link - Amazon.com, not UK. I didn't think they'd enabled UK. It's been discussed before.
If you hover your cursor over it, you'll see.
I think the topic is a problem. Your article is very similar to that published by The Mirror newspaper https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/w … e-10104265 and that will likely rank higher than yours in search results.

I have always added my Products via a keyword search but I have been asked to add a couple of products via links instead. I am not sure whether my being in the UK makes a difference but should I be adding links from Amazon.com or from Amazon UK? I know that most of my traffic still...

Following the advice of a fellow hubber I did a search query on myself on Google. The first several hubs which came up were normal and then I found one of my hubs that led to a "Secret Search Engine" labs by another hubber. This hub has lost a tremendous amount of traffic and now it looks...

I understand the editing process, quality control and for articles not to appear "spammy" My article was about slat chlorine generators and a sentence in there about testing salinity levels in the water. "This can be done by using a salt test meter or salt test strips" I...

Thinking of joining hubpages' Amazon program but I don't currently have an Amazon account and would like to make sure if going through the hassle of making an account then joining the affiliate program is worth it.

From your own article...I have a unique case. In one of my articles, I recommemd a natural supplement that is good for joints. This product works for me. It is something I use myself. In this article, I have an Amazon link to this product. When I ran out, and time to reorder, is it allowed for me to...

I am almost ready to publish a new article, and I want to add two Amazon Capsules. I know how to do it the old way. But I saw on lobobrandon and a few other's hubs a different way. There is just an orange "A" and what looks like a hyperlink, and when clicked, it takes the reader right to...
