I think some of my content has been copied here (shows up in SERPs when searching for a phrase) but I've never been able to login, because you have to be a student or educator to open a free account or otherwise submit credit card details for a free trial.

Maybe email them to confirm? Say something like "I suspect my content has been used in your course material...".

I DMd them on Twitter. They responded previously when I found possible matching content and suggested I submit a takedown request, but didn't give any further help when I ran into problems with submitting. I'll wait and see what their response will be this time.

Don't want to hijack, but I have similar problem. I found several of my articles copied in their entirety on a "buy an essay" site that seems to be based in Bulgaria. There is no direct email, only a link to fill in a form to BUY an essay, not to communicate. I found a suspicious-looking email address through diligent search, but I don't trust it.

I am inclined to wait it out a few weeks and see if they drop off the search-engine map due to the overall weird quality of the site.

Any thoughts or suggestions about this?

      Thanks so much.

Yes. You can look for the webhost (use one of the whois sites). Send your DMCA takedown directly to the webhost. I always go straight for the webhost because they don't argue about it. They have to protect themselves.

Failing that, you can ask Google (there's a form somewhere) to remove the offending page/s from their search results.

It's on the Google site under Webmaster Tools/Copyright Removal.  Just fill in the form.

Coursehero....one of the biggest offending websites, along with Scribd, both in my experience willingly communicate re copyright and takedown but the battle is ongoing because they seem to accept material from any old cheater which is then published on their respective websites. I've had a few victories over the years through persistent emails and filling in Google's DMCA copyright infringement forms.

WOW. Thank you guys so much! I did not know I had all these resources.  Much appreciated.

I don't want to clutter with saying thank you after each post. EVERY one of these posts really helped me. You guys are great.
