I just noticed this on my phone. First an image from my guide relevant to the search term, then two rows from a table, next SERP results proper.
Rows from a table in an article. Two rows were shown. When I clicked "more rows", it took me to my article. I was using Chrome on Android.
The result is slightly different on desktop. It seems the table rows that were extracted are actually a featured snippet.
The results you see are called "Featured Snippets". It's up to Google how they are displayed: https://support.google.com/websearch/an … =en#zippy=
I tried on my phone. Yes, it looks like they've changed the layout again. I tried a few different sorts of search: places, recipes, people... They just keep putting more and more stuff before the search results proper, especially if it's a topic which has commercial potential.
I wish the search engines were more like Wiki, non-profit. Crazy that a company like Google has a near monopoly in search, when they are also promoting their own products and services.
The whole appeal of Google in the early days was that it was simple and sleek. You typed in your search info and it delivered a list of results with no BS.
(It seems like just a phone thing? The layout for searches on my laptop with Chrome don't look much different.)
Yes. I see that too. Recipes not so much, though. Or, something more specific: if you ask, "how to handle pain." It's pretty clean.

I wanted to share two trends I see in content that are very successful today. The first one is what I call the opposing argument to the search term. Google wants balanced search results. You will often see articles that promote a very positive sentiment, but rarely will you see opposing or...

The table capsule does not appear to be working. It won't allow a file to be uploaded.

I published a hub a about three weeks ago, titled: "Defining My Purpose on HubPages: Aftermath of My Wars on HubPages Forums". I've written and published one more hub after that (it's still undergoing the site's quality assessment process) and I'm planning to write more hubs.I...

I have been experimenting with Google to find new techniques to drive more search traffic and I found one that is quite silly but has doubled my traffic within about a week of updating my hub. Here it is: THE RATING CAPSULEIt's really quite silly, but I added a rating capsule to the bottom of my...
