Why can't articles be part of a series?

I love the Hubpages writing community and the easy formatting that Hubpages provides. I am also grateful to be able to present the writing topics I love and share them with others with similar interests. However, I have encountered a couple of issues in the last couple of years that I would like to present for possible consideration.

Many of my topics contain large volumes of related information—the ability to publish them as a series works well for my readers. Since being moderated for making them a series and changing them so that they are not, I have had two problems. The first concerns me the most. Occasionally readers will contact me looking for more on the topic. I then have to send them a profile link, which leaves them with no other option than to continually return to my profile page to see the other related writings. Readers have requested that I link them, and all I can tell them is I am not allowed to do that, which is frustrating for the readers and myself when simple links in series form would cure the problem. Who knows how many readers would like to continue with the lesson but won't bother with the hassle.

I recently read in a Hubpages Help article, titled "Reasons Why Articles Are Moderated (& How to Fix Them)," that "When a reader goes to your article she doesn't want to be led to another site . . . articles that ask to "read more" or "continue" makes for a terrible reading experience."

Such is not the case for my readers or myself.  I see it's allowed in instances of fiction; why not large volumes of information that would be better presented that way? If this is the case, why is there a "Hubpages" banner movie at the top of every article unrelated to my writing and a banner of 3 other articles, completely unrelated to my topic, placed right in the middle of my Hubs? That creates a terrible and highly distracting reading experience for readers. It invites the reader to exit the writer's article before they are finished reading and navigates them to unrelated writings. I don't generally click on irrelevant article links in the middle of reading an online article. I do, however, click on links that lead me to the next part of a lesson or link me with other parts of a lesson or story.

The second problem of not being able to present articles in a series is either having to create a  "Hub" that's the size of an average book, which is not at all fun for the reader, or repeating information from the previous article so that the foundation of the entirety of information can be kept. This leads to duplicate material which is also not allowed.

Perhaps this is just the way it is, and I will simply have to deal with it, but if this concern could lead to a potential change in the future, I would like to give it a try.

On an unrelated note, I really miss the reader-writer relationship that was developed in the ability to comment. It was useful for both encouragement and correction. It kept me on my toes and encouraged communication improvement.

Lastly, the "Type your message" box is too short. It was frustrating to write, reread, and edit. I couldn't find a way to expand it

You could just make a parent article which is effectively a contents page with a list of links (with optional title photos) to the related articles?

      Like this: https://exemplore.com/wicca-witchcraft/ … craft-Path

I needed to add a lot of extra content to it, but if you have plenty of material you can do it.

Hoping that HP doesn't snip the link.

I checked yours out and I have tried things like that and they just get snipped. I had a nice moderator once who didn't ban me for trying several other ways to do it but at the end of the day, I had to get rid of the links and every reference to any other article relating to the topic.

The parent article sounds great. However, I just can't imagine that they will allow all those links when I'm not allowed to use one link that leads to another in any of my other articles. I am told to get rid of it and any mentions of other articles relating to it.

I think the other option can be that in the last capsule of your hub you can share the links to some of your related/suggested articles. I have done this in one of my hubs. People who are interested in reading related content always check those links, I believe. smile

I have tried that. They snip them or won't move the article until I get rid of it or any reference to any other article.

          This is how I did it: https://letterpile.com/poetry/Anxiety-n … an-emotion
I've seen a lot of folks doing this on different network sites. If you don't mind, can I ask you which niche site you are trying to submit it to? smile

I generally never submit them myself I just publish and let them move them as they see fit. I have noticed that some articles which should be part of a series get published on different network sites such as my latest adventure of articles one is on Owlacation and the other Letterpile.

The articles I linked to are on PatientsLounge, whereas this one is on Letterpile. I did not submit this article; it was moved to the niche site automatically. Maybe you can try to submit the article manually.

Wow! I just checked out how you did it and am shocked. I tried that on my Tabernacle series and was told to get rid of all of that.

In which case, is it because they are not all on the same network site?

None of them should be on hubpages.com. The others should be fine.

Yes, you cannot link hubpages and discover articles, those articles can create the problem you are referring to, I believe.

Ok. So I can list links as long as they are not on Hubpages or Discover? I see I will be busy.
