    Greeting fellows

I have written an article about K2, which is ranked very good in google search, on first page. When we type why is k2 a tough mountain? there comes my article as its answer, (the very first article.)

The problem is that eventhough it is ranked very good by google, there is significant decline in my views, it was getting very good views on daily basis, but now for a last few months its getting 20 to 30 views per day only. It was one of my best earning and most popular article. I am worried why it happened despite of its good ranking? Any idea guys?!

It's happening with almost everyone around here. I have been noticing the same trend as well.

The format of the articles is the cause of the decline. The design is no longer accessible for viewers to read the articles. The ads and inconsistent videos do not offer an easy reading pleasure, blocking the articles. I took a look at one of Dr. Mark's articles on cats, and it was impossible to read with all the ads and videos. It was crazy. Some have mentioned that the Spruce platform is easier to read but not as informative as HP. But, it ranks high. It ranks high because its platform is easy to read. The Internet and Google constantly change, and HP needs to evolve with these transitions. We have new editors on board, which is excellent, but with the same platform, ads and videos blocking our articles, I don't see it will help.

I don't even make 1/3rd of the money with more than thrice the articles, when compared to the data from few years ago. It's just disheartening and discouraging to say the least.

This platform is one of its kind, and I'd be sad to see the potential go down the drain.

I've written a ton of new articles since I started seeing the downward trend in numbers. It hasn't pushed the needle forward at all, so I'm worried that writing new articles has been more of a stabilizer.

I really hope that the issue is the ads because that seems like something fixable. I used to have articles that received more than a thousand views, that's not the case anymore.

Perhaps HubPages is on some kind of contract for ads at the moment, so they can't change ads yet. Unless there is some other kind of problem, I would bargain the ads format will eventually be changed. I would imagine HubPages is interested in getting the most revenue possible.

I agree with everything you've just said. Perhaps they'd like to tone down the ads a bit. I wouldn't read my own piece.

I agree with you, not even writing new article is helpful. Cpm and earning trend is still downwards.
This is really discouraging for writing new articles.

Even though this is all frustrating, it is refreshing to know some people are in the same boat. If there is a collective of us, that means we as individual writers aren't necessarily doing something wrong.

Same here. Earnings are way down compared to what they used to be. In January, I started writing for Medium. It's still early days, but I am already making twice as much as my best months on Hubpages. I am not giving up yet, but something needs to change around here.

    Take care and keep smiling.

I stand with Imran Khan too, but I'd like to know what has happened since the opposition were elected in. There seems to a word wide news blackout. Days before he was removed from office I heard of hundreds of thousands on the streets in support of him and that was the last news. I can't believe Pakistani's would just roll over and let this happen. I know he was very popular and also this seemed to be orchestrated from the US and Pakistan is very much anti US. If you have current news I'd very much like to know thanks.

Ha Ha. No, not at all, Pakistan is not against the United States. It is just that Pakistan is an independent country that needs to be able to stand on its own feet. Every independent country has the right to make their own decisions, and same is true for Pakistan. I live in Spain, but I am Pakistani. You have not seen the love Pakistanis have for Imran Khan. Pakistanis are protesting in the streets and holding strikes to re-elect Imran Khan as prime minister. Not only in Pakistan but also abroad Pakistanis are supporting Imran Khan. We all love him very much. And I think the strikes will stop only when the opposition loses power and Khan is re-elected as prime minister.

We are protesting so that the elections can take place. PML N, PPP, MQM and other opposition parties are not fit to form a government. Pakistanis are on the streets because they support Imran Khan and want Pakistan to grow with dignity.

Here is the link to Khan's yesterday's rally in Lahore, Pakistan: https://mobile.twitter.com/ImranKhanPTI … 1992785920

I stand with Imran Khan smile He is a brilliant politician with an uplifting personality.

I liked how you stated that you, too, stand with Imran Khan. Thank you so much!! smile

            Best wishes!!

Thank you Misbah that’s great to know. Interesting that the articles all quoted ‘thousands at the rally’ but when looking at the video you couldn’t see the end of the crowd so obviously hundreds of thousands - if not more!
Yes I’ve always loved Imran as I’m a massive cricket fan so go back all that way when he was conquering the world in cricket. But such a fabulous honest politician that genuinely wants to help all Pakistanis.
It would be great to get rid of those dynasties such as the Sharif’s.
Best of luck and I hope like you that Imran returns soon to power. I’ll be watching but I try and a avoid BBC, NYT as I believe their political news can be very one sided.

Thank you so much for the kind wishes, Jerry. I agree with you that some news channels are sometimes very one-sided. Khan quit playing cricket after his victory having established himself as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. After quitting cricket in 1992, he founded a cancer hospital in 1994 (Shaukat Khanum memorial cancer hospital) in Lahore, Pakistan. He invested all the prize money he had won in the World Cup in this hospital. He served as the primary fundraiser for the hospital. It is a free hospital for cancer patients who cannot afford the cost of treatment. The hospital was named after Khan's mother, who died of cancer in 1985. His mother's death brought a big change in his life. The cancer hospital is one of the noblest efforts of Imran Khan. smile

I am glad to connect with you here.

                Best wishes!!

Yes, there seems to be a general Decline in views. Something that I just noticed is that a lot of my articles that had been on Discover seem to have been suddenly moved back to HubPages. That could explain declining views to some extent.

I notice that too and even if an article still ranks high for the title, views have declined. Views we were getting previously however may have come from search terms matching content in the body text, rather than a string of text from a title, and those keywords may have dropped in ranking for network sites. Also how many seconds does it take before a view is registered by GA or Hubpages? If a user backs out in less than 10 seconds because of the site video or slow loading, is that visit ignored?

I'm just going to focus on my clients for now. Hubpages will work more as a portfolio of sorts.

If it ranks #1 for the main keyword or phrase, but the view numbers are down, then it's because the article's ranking for related keywords has declined.

That's assuming there are no other factors, such as seasonality, etc.

Then what should be done Paul? to get good views back! Any idea or suggestion?
