Do You Think ChatGPT is Biased?

I've asked it to give me links to online guides, but it never lists those from network sites even though I've tested it with some of my guides that are in first or second place in rankings. I've asked it to provide additional links but it still doesn't list them. Does it only mention "popular" sites or could it possibly be biased?

It hasn't got access to anything after 2019. Yet. It's constricted by the data it's been given.

I believe the Google and Bing versions will be able to access the whole internet.

I thought that, but one of the guides dates from 2017. Maybe it wasn't so high ranking then and ChatGPT uses historic Google ranking to show the most popular links from 2019. Does it correct and add to its database I wonder? When I corrected it, it apologised and added my Dengarden link. When I repeated the same question a few times, it continued to include the link, but I think it's trying to just humour me. I'll ask it again tomorrow.

I'm not sure it goes to the web yet. I think it's dependent on what was 'given' to it.

          I was wrong about 2019, it's after 2020:

"ChatGPT was trained in writing that already exists on the internet up to the year 2021."

*sarcasm* I'm looking forward to when Google and Bing start scraping our work for free and then rehashing it for users of their new AI search without us gaining any benefit! I'm getting way too much traffic and earnings right now and looking forward to the reduction!

Seriously, though, I can see why publishers are so concerned about Google and Bing's plans for AI search! I'm concerned too! Writers and publishers will provide the fuel, it seems, while Google and Bing plan to be the beneficiaries!

I'm not against technology. But when examined, the business model kind of looks like a sophisticated form of plagiarism.

If we were paid when the AI used our work, I'd obviously feel happier. But I don't expect that to happen.

My feeling is that the best we can hope for as writers and content creators is that we get a tiny source link in the corner of the page, like with ChatGPT.

"As an AI language model, I don't have the ability to forget or remember anything as I do not have consciousness or memory in the same way that humans do. I apologize for the confusion."

There goes my plan of trying to influence it. So will it just learn more from looking at additional published content?

As I understand it, ChatGPT doesn't "learn" from the massive amounts of data, rather it uses the data to predict which word should come next in its answers. It improves through human feedback.

You should take my words with a pinch of salt though, as I'm still trying to figure out what the eff's going on. smile

I felt like I learned a lot from Tom Scott's video: I tried using AI. It scared me.
