Can I post articles on HubPages that I've already posted on Medium or other sites?
No. It'll be flagged as duplicate content. However, you can do it the other way around. HP first; Medium after. Then it will just show in your account as a copyright violation but you won't be penalised.
I think HP to Medium is okay as they are different audiences, i.e. external vs internal, but I'd be careful about splitting your traffic between general sites.
How cool that you joined less than an hour ago and already know so much about HubPages. Let me help you out here. Never mind 'it is not generally recommended', you cannot post a duplicate article on the platform at all.
Maybe you are here to drop a link or two?
All HP articles have to be unique content that hasn't been published elsewhere. At the very least, you risk the duplicate article getting taken down. If you do it repeatedly there's a good chance you'll get banned.
You're not really supposed to post HP articles to Medium either, I was told. People sometimes get away with it in practice. I used to do it myself, but I've pretty much ceased and can't remember the last time I did it.
I think that you should cater articles for the particular publication and Medium and HP are essentially different animals.
Promoting articles is good, e.g. social media, but duplication is generally best avoided even if you can get away with it.
It's possible to delete a Medium article and then post it to HubPages. The only danger with that is that plagiarism on the internet is so rife that someone might have copied it.
Then you can get punished for plagiarizing someone else's work despite it being your own article because it looks to Google and HP like the plagiarist's copy is the original!
I've take note of the challenge. My opinion is that it's best one writes either for Medium or HubPages, so as to avoid the issues both the theraggedged and PaulGoodman have outlined.
Plagiarism of any kind is discouraged in most of the reputed websites.
It's not plagiarism if it's your own article. I would describe it as duplication.
That's correct. But it baffle me why others think I would plagiarized my own article?
I have heard editors and publishers of other platforms use boiler plating for duplication.

So, they claim that my poem is a duplicate content. HubPages, are you serious? I hope no one on the internet is taking and stealing my fantasies and creative ideas. Nobody has a cable attached to my brain. The only thing is that I put a quote in a callout capsule and the poem was about 260 words in...

What's the hubpages view on copying free license text and passing it off as your own?Even if quoted, its duplicate content.. which I'm sure would be penalized.. but is it acceptable to do it in the first place?I was just looking at a hub by a constantly-complaining hubber - and her hub is 100%...
