Or are all the ads automated? Hopefully advertisers are being charged more for advertising, in line with inflation although it doesn't seem so in the last 10 years.
Not sure, but ads have always been given to the highest bidder irrespective of the platform used to advertise.
The problem I guess is when there's little interest in bidding and the final price is pushed down. Do we know whether bidding systems can access traffic stats?
Typically people place bids per 1000 views. So they do not need the stats per se. But I am curious what system they (HP) use.
That make sense to me. Let hubpages Matt Wells speak on it.
A bit off topic- I have stopped promoting my articles via links on social media because I would feel embarrassed if friends and acquaintances linked to articles that are inevitably peppered with ads that disrupt the flow. Such advertising practices are a total turnoff in my opinion. I was much happier with layout back in the days when ads appeared on the right hand side of Hubpages articles (which seemed to earn more than they now earn). I haven’t submitted articles to for some time now as I feel totally disincentivised by advertising policies.
Yes, we did seem to earn more then. We were promised that the new website design would allow more flexibility in the type of ads served and better earnings or words to that effect, but I don't think that materialised. Interestingly though, I turned off ads for two weeks on a long article. It didn't have any effect on bounce rate or average time spent on page, according to GA. Maybe ads keep readers engaged and they stay longer, despite the fact that the layout is awful a lot of the time. The things that annoy me most about ads is lack of alignment and excessive whitespace when a short ad gets put in a tall placeholder.

What are the real advantages of submitting my content to network sites? Does this affect traffic or revenue in any way? I am thinking of transferring some of my featured articles to network sites.

Do network sites provide any advantage to our articles? If so, how?A number of my articles have been moved to various network sites, but some articles are linked with hubpages.com/discover and some with just hubpages.com. Are the non-network ones suffering some kind of disadvantage? Thanks — Lyndon

I know there are several issues with this. Firstly, the network sites can't link back to Hubpages because of the reputation of the site and it being sort of a taboo domain to link to as regards Google (Is this a permanent problem, or does a site "get out of jail" eventually?) Also some...

I am starting a thread so writers can inform each other about articles being moved to existing network sites. I am happy to say that one of the articles I submitted about a month ago was moved from Discover to WonderWisdom today. Is anyone else having articles moved to network sites?
