Seems like TAG are looking to attract a different kind of audience to HP - gone are the days when we thought as contributors we were creating useful evergreen information. It's not going to change for the foreseeable future.
'In the HubPages business, the Company’s content playbook has now expanded across 11 sites, with plans to apply our playbook throughout 2023. While breaking and trending news traffic was impacted by audience volatility this quarter, the Company’s total HubPages monthly average pageviews in Q1 2023 was nearly 53 million, up 3% from Q1 2022, according to Google Analytics.'

How can it keep acquiring other businesses when it has a net loss of $19.4 million?
I suppose the investors pay for them, so TAG owe money in the short term or are losing it, but then the businesses get turned around and become profitable. Some of the businesses will still be losing money but others will be making money or have increased in value. So eventually they can sell everything off and make a net profit. I don't know anything about business, but just speculating. So it's a long term money making process like a like a pension scheme.
You'll also come across Gross Profit on the same page and see their profits and everything to do with their going forward playbook....plus TAG's overall worth which runs just over $200m if I recall.
I think they're using HP as some sort of attraction for a different type of reader, masses of them. Hence the ads and text layout. As a writer it's hard to take - traffic is way down across all niche sites because of these changes.
If there's an entrepreneur out there who could buy out HP and lose the TAG regime then set us back on track?....Hopeful.

Enlightening indeed. There are a few comments I'd like to make, but I am going to defer. Suffice to say, I'm going to keep doing exactly what I have been doing. https://www.searchenginejournal.com/goo … 19/334803/

I feel like I am screaming into the void at this point anyway.Getting rid of the top video was a good start,...
