Would it be possible to cycle through different (approved) hubbers on the sign-out page.  It has been the same authors for as long as I can remember.  It might excite and invigorate hubbers to have a chance to be featured.

Make some sort of automated filter.  Hub Score >90 and >50$ earned per month - something like that.

It's been these 5 hubbers for as long as I can remember:
    Candace Bacon
    Eddie Carrera
    Linda Crampton
    Kitty Fields
    Alex Rose

Nothing against them, for sure. It has just been forever since anyone else has been featured.

You have a point. Hopefully, Matt Wells will reply.

        Thanks!

It seems like a mostly passive way to encourage people to write better hubs/improve hubscore, if it is set up with an automatic filter.

Reward quality hubbers.  Get better hubs.

I think some tidying around the site to bring things up to date would be helpful. Not just on articles, but all the other parts. I like that HP has kept the same format for publishing articles as it makes life easier for me, but certain things need a modern update after so many years. The featured writers' section mentioned here is just one part that needs some housekeeping.

I know a tsunami of things is being dealt with right now, so I get it. I think parts that haven't received attention for a long time should start getting priority and maybe less attention on writers... it kind of feels like writers are always targeted. Considering all the changes that have been done with us recently without much gain in traffic or earnings, perhaps other aspects should be considered. Maybe? I do appreciate it when more supportive things are done for writers.

Andrea, I agree. HP keeps telling us to do this and that. Yet, they do nothing to enhance our platform.
It is frustrating because I have invested over 15 years. HP is getting worse.
Even their advice is futile. For example, the last newsletter announced that we should not have links in the first couple of paragraphs because it pulls the reader off the article. Yet, HP has three ads or links to other articles before the reader even gets to the second paragraph. They should practice what they instruct.
I want HP to succeed, but they need to follow their advice. Trying to get them to understand or see what needs to be done is like tearing down a cement wall with a 2-by-4—goes nowhere. Even writing this comment will be of no avail.
How can I follow instructions from HP that they don't even practice? Plus, why should I listen to a failing company?

These are all really good points. I rarely add links anymore because the rules have changed a lot over the years. I wish they’d make it to where links were a capsule so they could be turned off and on very easily… depending on what rules are in place.

I wish I knew what was happening behind the scenes. I know January is a rough month here usually, so I’m taking a more laid back approach at the moment. I think for writers we’ll have to diversify where we write in order to survive. It’s hard finding platforms that work… which is why I hope HP can rebound. When it’s good here, it can make a big difference.

I hear you! I am also hoping they rebound.

The site increasingly reminds me of the rundown shared rented house that I lived in when I was a student. Things gradually get worn out and broken and very little gets fixed or updated. It feels unloved.

I have distinct memories of properties like that when I was a student too. It’s a good analogy.

I've commented about this before now too. None of those writers is still active here, according to their profiles, and at least one of them is deceased.

    Oh dear.

I agree that it could be a way of encouraging people to write more and better. I'm pretty sure that was the original intention.

Instead, it's a recurring reminder of writers who are no longer around and it's a bit depressing!

It also seems unlikely that the figures mentioned are still accurate.
