Hi, Friends! I read this article published by our fellow writer, Andrew Spacey. Though it is an old article, it is an evergreen one. I found it to be very informative and beautiful. It provides intelligent insight into the nature and greatness of poetry.
It is from the HubPages weekly dated 11th April, 2024. Here is the link.

Andrew Spacey, I enjoyed reading your descriptive article dealing with the Meaning and Definitions of Poetry as understood by popular and famous poets.  I like those quotes by Maya Angelou, P.B.Shelley, and William Wordsworth, etc.

The quotes from our fellow writers like Manatita44, Jodah, Janshares, etc. are also of great worth. I don't know how you got one of my definitions also included in it. I am only a fan of poetry though I like to scribble some feelings here and there. Thanks for including my line there.

Oh yes thank you Venkat for drawing my attention to this magnificently constructed article written way back when....

I really enjoyed putting it all together in a vain attempt to nail the topic once and for all!! I loved the research and the many responses I received from all those who love to dabble in versification. Glad you came across it. You're welcome.
Defining poetry, haha, is of course a bit like defining beauty? It's in the eye of the beholder? And once you think you have the ultimate definition it slips away like a soapy eel, or changes into a chimera.

Changing subject. You know what? I got my visa to India placed neatly in my passport in the month of February 2020. I was all set to visit your wonderful country when the dreaded Covid struck. I couldn't go. I missed out on seeing a tiger, a leopard, a chaiwallah or two. But I still want to visit. I'm still doing my research on the incredible Indian wildlife reserves. Perhaps one day? Before another Covid comes around!! Oh no please not.

Yes, Andrew. You have the right word for poetry. Poetry is Beauty. And, Beauty is par definition. I love poetry in the same way that I love my God and Nature. I appreciate your muses.

I am sorry to see that you missed your trip. Let's hope it happens in the nearest future.  My best wishes for you.

This is marvelous, Andrew! I loved reading it. Very informative and educational in a fun way. You are a great teacher. Thanks for using my quote! What a surprise. Although it's super familiar, I don't recall where it's from. I checked my article on "poetry as wordplay," but didn't see it there. Anyhow, I appreciate being included. Thanks for sharing. I will share on Twitter X to the poetry and writing communities in honor of National Poetry Month.
    Thanks for sharing, Venkatachari.
