I get 400 views a month. How can it possibly that three years to get a payout?

It's very sad. TAG/HP does not care about the writers.

Yes, I was in need of the $50 and was hoping to make payout at the end of last month, but missed by 90 cents that means I will have to wait to next month damnit. I wish they’d reduce the payout thresh-hold now that they are paying us so little.

It was once. The Apprentice Program was what got me going. Such a great idea.

The last time I made payout was last Fall.

After that, I calculated that at the current dismal rates I had been earning, it would take at least a year and a half before I reached payout again. That's when I decided to unpublished everything. I no longer had the patience.

I thought I was directing my question to HP staff, but thanks for commiserating with me!

I'd really like to know how much $$$ they are making off my work!

They used to be transparent about it. 60/40 split of ad revenue. Then suddenly it changed. Earnings fell around the same time. And now they won't tell us, which is very wrong.

A great many things have changed, most all negative since the Maven acquisition.

Maven buys HubPages: No future for mom-and-pop publishers
        https://www.zdnet.com/article/maven-buy … ublishers/

That it is even still a functional (somewhat) site today is surprising.

Google and other Search Engines as they changed impacted things as well, as many know.

Decisions like removing the ability to comment and interact with the writers was another huge blow, to both readers and writers IMO.

Infact, if anyone has a good alternative where such interaction with one's "audience" is part of how the site operates, please leave a name or link I would be interested in actively writing again on such a site.

Medium. Earnings depend on a lot of reciprocal interaction.

As did HubPages... which if I remember correctly, is the excuse I believe that they used for doing away with such interaction, so that people would not get credit (payout) for repeated views by people who were returning to interact in said comments.

Funny that... throw in a few ads between comments and doesn't that amount to the same thing as someone reading an article?

They get exposed to the ads either way... right?

So... when decisions like that are being made, its just a sign of where things are headed.  If not for the engagement I have on the forums, which replaced engagement on Hub Articles via comments, I would have left years ago... but even that is all but over now, only a handful left interact in the forums... its time to move on.

Kathleen, you should ask HP staff these questions directly at team@hubpages.com. If they give you straight answers, let us know.
