Subliminal messages? I find this fascinating

I do surveys and know there are subliminal messages in advertising. How good they are I don’t know, but they are trying. I hadn’t known them to be in the ads themselves, but am sure they are imbedded into the programming and movies we watch. How? Because I will get surveys that include a video either to put into the dvd player or online. Before you take the survey you are asked to choose among various products then watch the video and choose among the second group of products. But both groups of products are the same.

What made me think about this is the moral degradation posts.Hopefully it’s not a problem I post this link. It’s not mine, just one I found while studying this. Take a look and tell me what you think. Have you noticed anything like this or is this guy crazy? There are 2 pages to this so look at both.

oh well, guess we’re not actually able to share links? Knew there was a problem with self promotion or spam, but sharing interesting things you find? Weird.

I wrote a hub on the topic of forum rules that has a link in it to the forum rules. I am gonna take a look again but if I am not mistaken there is no ruls against posting a link unless it is self promotional.

I know. And there was nothing in this link. Nothing for sale. Nothing but images. Now that I think about it, maybe it was the images themselves.

"Promoting hubs or other sites: This includes linking to any site that you have a vested interest in promoting, especially using affiliate links. To be on safe side we recommend that you establish a presence in the HubPages community before you post any links in the forum."

I guess that if they thought you were promoting another site then I can see the reason for the snip.

A few months ago moderators got really strict on the links. Even though it was not declared officially, it looks like a total and complete ban on links. After they snipped a couple of mine, I just stopped posting links altogether. smile

I can't imagine what would be so bad in the link, even pix, that wouldn't be allowable here, what with all the degradation in the remarks of several posters on this site already!
But anyway, sorry I missed it.  Or not! ha.

I am certain that they would use subliminal messaging if they could and it was effective. There was a lot of interest in it when this idea first got aired, back in the sixties I think, You can directly write where we can find the stuff you tried to link to I think?

if you look for a guy named artistmike and subliminal advertising you will see.
+ this one if the image works. And actually my daughter found a bunch when she took a good luck at her seventeen magazine ads.

Well we will see if this is allowed, since it was allowed on billboards kids see.

Wow Jean, talk about sublminal messages when it comes to that Burger King poster.  I know that sex sells but that's pretty blatant.

well this was the mildest one. And I have seen this ad many times and never even thought anything about it except “why does she look scared of the burger?” Tonight I clued. Guess I am just getting so used to it. Actually it’s kind of scary if you think about it too much. How much we just get used to without thinking and how much more maybe we will get used to without thinking.

i don't think subliminal messaging really works. Quite a few song that i like, are apparently filled with subliminal messaging. One song in particular, wait and bleed- Slipknot. Played backwards it says something, (can't remember the exact words), about shedding blood...Can't say iv'e ever been tempted to slit my wrists while listening to this song, and i have listened to this song on repeat many times.

Fink Floyd- stir way to heaven..Iv'e listened to A LOT of pink floyd. It's never made me feel anything other than good.

Subliminal messaging that I read about when it started was more about embedding unseen messages - like just before the break during a movie one frame each second would tell you that you really want a soda - too fast to register to the front end but the subconcious got it. The picture things are really just suggestive and has been going on forever, why do you think that most plastic bottles that women would normally use are penis shaped but a bit bigger ?  And why do I have this urge to go and write some poems for Hokey and Tantrum ! ?
